I LOVED this part:

“Well, I think just that he’s — more than anything, he’s just a simple player,” Jelavic told KSR. “When he sees the rim, he’s going to dunk that ball. And when he sees that ball on the defense, he’s going to block that ball. That’s something we just really need right now. We need some simple, aggressive plays right now, especially at the defensive end.”

I know better. Rupp Rafters already declared him out for the season and I trust those reports since everyone is level headed and fair in their critiques…..HAHA! NOT! It was obvious the kid wants to play as soon as possible and I can’t freaking wait!
He's going to play and would think next month sometime to get him acclimated for the start of conference play. The kid wants to play and playing only helps his stock in the draft .

I tell you what.
Sure hope JQ is the next Shaq.
Everyone in this state seems to have turned him into that.
I’ve literally only seen people saying he won’t play and then a lot of others saying he should help the defense. Almost everyone has said to expect him to be rusty. Who expects him to be Shaq? Any posters said that?

Just speaking the truth about KSR. they always pull this crap like breaking news when you read it and it's nothing new, But that's all media today.
Yeah they're really bad about regurgitating stuff they've already written into a "new" story. This was all out yesterday in the pre-game presser.

Nobody. Just more trolling from a rival fan. I believe there is about 10 trolls to every UK fan on here now.

I mean sounds good but when we have a date I'll get excited.

And is Lowe done or not done or what's going on there?

What a sad commentary. So the rest of the team can’t play instinctively? I’m not buying any of this crap till I see it. Ain’t falling for this hype ever again

I do think some may be unfairly putting too much expectation on how Quaintance will impact this team. Last season Quaintance was a big, young, quick twitch, athletic freak - and that athleticism and size translated to being a good defensive player, rebounder and dunker. He had no perimeter shot and was a bad FT shooter. On the other hand, in the times I watched him, he seemed to have good handles and passing ability for a big. He wasn’t exactly like Amari Williams – and posters can probably come up with differing opinions about who was better at what - but the way I just described him is similar in respects to Williams.

I don’t know how close Quaintance’s athleticism will be to his pre-injury state, but I think regardless it’ll be enough to still be freakish. Moreover, this season I fully expect Quaintance to be a 60%+ FT shooter and maybe a 25-30% 3-pt. shooter (on very low volume). If not, I think somebody should be called on the carpet to explain. Quaintance had 6 months or so to work on basically nothing but FT shooting and a set-shot type 3pt. shot. So, if those don’t improve dramatically, then he’s either unable to really improve his shot or someone is to blame for an incredibly wasted opportunity.

Basically, I’m thinking his athletic driven positives will be close to what they were while his offensive skills should be better – including with more assists in a cutting type offense. But I’m skeptical right now as to how much of an impact he will have on the team from an offensive standpoint. So, if some think his defensive presence is so much greater that it will elevate this team significantly in regard to winning, I can see that possibility. But thinking Quaintance is going to be a big offensive threat or even worse logically – thinking because he’s a projected draft pick that equals him making UK a top 5 dominating team – I’m afraid may be setting things up for disappointment. I’m hoping, even expecting I guess, Quaintance will make this team better in a couple of different ways, but I’m certainly not thinking he’s the difference in this team being good or not – a piece to that puzzle maybe, but not a savior.

I am going out on a limb here and betting that 98 % of the posters here are going to be disappointed in JQ. Expectations have been way too high on this board and majority of people here have not seen him play.

If this is true I'd argue it's huge because Amari Williams passing is what seems to be missing from this team. Garrison isn't that level of passer, Moreno has impressed me but he's a freshman.

Pope's offense needs a point center.
