KY Derby Parking

Been many years since I’ve been to the derby. I seem to remember last I went we parked at Papa Johns (Cardinal) Stadium for free or cheap and tailgated there prior to the short walk to Churchill Downs.

Does anyone know if this is still allowed?

If not, any suggestions of nearby parking (walking distance to Churchill) that allows tailgating?

Coming from out of town and not too familiar with the area.

As we get out, we are sipping on bourbon and pointing and laughing at all the poors walking from Cardinal Stadium. All in a good days work of being a Paddock'er.

Man, the Oaks and Derby isn't what it used to be. Nothing like hitting the Oaks or party it up on Central Avenue. Buddy had a relative that lived on Central. We didn't have to worry about anything. Great times.
