In his defense.....he did make the #8 ranked UW team and defense look pretty average in the first RU drive for a TD to start the game. And RU kept it close for the first half. UW asserted themselves in the 2nd half to pull away.
Kyle did not get much help in the play calling aspect....you could say he was 'Kill'ed in his efforts to move the Scarlet Knights!
I was impressed with Rutgers defense, their running backs, and although their OL is inexperienced- they only gave up 1 sack, and that was because Kyle tripped.
They give Washington fits for 2 1/2 quarters then the issue became -depth or lack of depth for RU on defense. Turay had an exceptional gmae as DE and if he continues he'll get a chance at the next level.
Now about the play calling on Offense, Kill had not called plays since 2008 with a young OL, a transfer QB against the number 8th ranked team. The game was called to not get blown out and to keep the ball out of Washington's hands which was successful with runs and short passes.
Washington's depth just wore RU down. Kyle did alright -I give him a B-. He was hampered by conservative play calling. The first interception he threw trying to make something happen, the other out of frustration.
RU fans keep your heads up. You'll be better than last year-keep Kyle healthy.
