How much of a problem is that we don't have an AD right now in terms of talking to Moser? For Northwestern to not at least talk to the hottest coach in the country (who happens to be in Chicago) feels like the Bears passing on drafting Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts because they had Trubisky.

Is everything on Morty at this point? If the Ryan family wanted to see if it's possible would talks get initiated? Or are we just out of luck (I think this may be the case)?

I think the bigger issue is that we don’t have anything to talk to him about.

It’s a big problem. If you were the hottest coaching candidate in the country, wouldn’t you want to know who your boss is if you decided to finally switch jobs?

Especially if you’re taking over one of the most difficult P5 jobs?

This whole process has been incredibly long, and I am sure the administration had a head start on planning as the BIG made a huge mistake on passing on Phillips. That being said, I will take patience over hiring a goober like the guy at IL.

In the midst of having no AD we will aggressively pursue Moser. Morty makes it his last hurrah, a chance to be remembered as the man who changed NU basketball forever.

With no f’s to give Morty agrees that Moser comes in with minimum admission standards.

In the span of 5 years Duke becomes known as the Northwestern of the south.

Willy and Gordie are so distraught by CC’s departure that they only return to this board on April of 2025. The date NU captures its first national championship.

I don’t think he makes it past next year if results hold. With a new AD, it’ll be tourney or gone, imo.
I wish I believed you. But it’s NU. We’ll win 7 or 8 games with our highest rated class as seniors. Call it improvement and continue to pound the rock. I really hope I’m wrong. And we go shopping for a jack hammer.

They need to pull what the Bulls did with Doug.

I’m not worried about it. Everything the department has done in terms of investment in facilities, coaches, resources, etc. over the past decade has signaled that we want to be a serious player in all respects.

Being patient with a coach who has a) had some success at NU and b) had some weird circumstances come around, does not signal to me that there is satisfaction with the state of the program. Getting on the coaching carousel every 3 to 4 years is not a recipe for success at most schools, let alone NU.

Collins will have his chance next year with an older team that has shown flashes of real potential. If he doesn’t put it together, I don’t think the admin will have much trouble moving on.

What chance do we have at Moser now? He's going to get his pick of much bigger and/or easier jobs than ours.

I don't understand the talk of many on here wanting to fire Collins. I mean, it's one thing for willycat and a few others who aren't really NU fans to want to fire Collins, but I've seen some loyal NU fans want Collins canned.

As a fan, I'm ok with 6 wins a year avg. BC was doing ok until his last year. Collins had a great turnaround this year and won the last 3 regular season games and gave us hope for next year. This program is seriously handicapped so other than maybe winning 10 Big Ten games once a decade, if that, I think 6 wins in a tough conference is about par. Can he do better? Sure, there is room for improvement. But 6 wins wasn't a bad job.

C'mon Turk, you are trolling us. You gave us the Fake on the Lake, the Problem of Fitz, and the 3-Star Blues, all of which are a clear indication that you held Fitz to a higher standard. Now you try to convince us to settle for the bottom tier of the B1G?

I sentence you to death by drowning (not really, just a good Kafka reference).

Turk is either trolling or needs to get off the pipe. Seeing he wrote willycat wants to fire Collins only further confirms my suspicions.

Hey Wicker, I have never advocated firing Collins. Carry on.

To add insult to injury, pound the rock is a direct ripoff of Gary Barnett and the pump

The chatter a few weeks ago was bringing in Pat Baldwin as the new HC but when we won 6 games I haven't heard of any more chatter. Of course, it would be a package deal with his son and one other athlete. Some on here are way off base though. Bringing in a "Hot coach" isn't going to happen. IMO, Collins is decent enough, I wasn't trolling. but if Pat Baldwin is hired then that would make sense. But that's who everyone was talking about, not the other guy being talked about on here.

Without an AD, it would be tough to hire anyone unless Morty has a personal relationship with someone. That guy is Pat Baldwin. But IMO Collins will stay.

At any rate, yes, I brought forth "The Problem of Fitz" and it was a huge knucklehead problem of loyalty when loyalty isn't a virtue. The Athletic department actually talked to me about my interruptions about the "Fake by the Lake". My commentary furthered discussion and was useful. I found it hilarious and the post kept things active around here. Now, the board is not as colorful and lacks substance and serious discussion. Of course, I did have some fun as well. The Flat Earth had over 1,000 comments and was quite entertaining. Hilarious as heck man.

Willy, you never graduated from NU, you were a flunkie. Plus you live close to Iowa. You never were a NU fan. Everyone who sat around you had to leave because it was brutal with you being so miserable, angry, and negative, watching a game you claim to love.

6 wins is not a bad job? You’ve got the bar set far to low. We’re looking for tournament bids on a regular basis and finishing in the top 1/3 of the conference!

NO I didn't graduate from but did attend. Did you? Don't live by the Io-a border any more. I have been a fan of and have attended NU games since the early 50's and a ST holder for close to 25 years and my dad was one before that. Any more b.s you would like to make?

If nobody lured him away from Loyola in the wake of their Final Four appearance, what makes you think NU could lure him away now?

If Loyola wins the tournament, is there any chance he really leaves?

I think he wold still leave for the right opportunity. The closest comp in my mind is what Brad Stevens did at Butler. Brad Stevens left for the NBA after taking Butler to multiple final fours including the Championship game. I don't think Loyola is his last stop.

I wonder how being fired from Illinois State affects his thinking. It would leave me less eager to jump to the next thing when I could be coach for life in my hometown.
