I see where the Lady Sooner Softball Team kicks off this weekend in Phoenix, AZ.

Excited? I am!

What can we expect this year? Are they championship caliber this year?

The girls kick off today against Syracuse and Grand Canyon U. I'm going to Charlotte and Syracuse games tomorrow. We play San Diego State on Sunday.

It's going to be interesting to see how the pitching is this year. We've had two dominant pitchers the last two years, and Paige Parker was dominant for three years.

OU has Giselle Juarez, lefty pitcher transfer from Arizona State. She's on the watch list for Player of the Year.

They also have a stud freshman Brooke Vestal, but i read that she may redshirt this year. I think with Juarez, and Lopez in the circle the pitching will be fine. New pitching coach is pretty good.

Nice start 6-0 over Cuse and 7-1 over GC. Huge games next weekend as the face Kentucky, Notre Dame and Florida St. They also play Hofstra and FAU that weekend.

This team will be well tested come tournament time.

I went to the Syracuse game this afternoon. OU started fresh faces knowing they were better than Syracuse. OU stranded 7 in the first three innings. Bases loaded twice when 3rd out happened. Alo is still a HR threat at the plate on every pitch. Rogers seems to be a very alert batter. She was the only one to hit it out of the park. The girls had a couple of errors to start the game. settled down and played lights in the 4th. This team will get better every week. I was very surprised at the OU fan crowd turnout.

Thats great Scottsdale you went to the OU game. It sounded like new players like our new catcher hit very well as our new freshman designated hitter. In game two Clifton hit a HR.

Rogers hit the HR in game two. It was a very long shot. It flew the fence by 20 foot or so. Clifton seemed like she was on base every inning. I think she was hit by a pitch once. Clifton sees the ball very well. She walks often. Mendez didn't play in the second game.

I used to think that Patty could never replace Lombardi with anyone that good. I was sort of right. She replaced Melissa with someone better. Jen Rocha has improved OUr pitching. We've had great pitching in the past, with individuals, but not a four quality pitcher staff like this, especially with Bahl at the top of it.

The only thing I miss about Lombardi now, is that she was also great as a first base coach. She's also bringing the Ducks around. Loved it when they beat Arky.
