Fun fact - the owner of the Kansas City A's wanted to move the team to Louisville in the 1960s but the other owners vetoed the idea and they ended up in Oakland a few years later. Would have been named the Kentucky Colonels and played in the stadium at the fairgrounds. I'm sure they would have been long gone by now if they ended up here, but imagine a world where Jose Canseco and Mark McGuire were juicing up and hitting homers at the fairgrounds. A young me may have actually ended up being a baseball fan.

Nostalgia is wonderful, but other than the Bash Brothers era and the 70s era, The Athletics have been a fairly forgettable franchise. I hope it sparks some life into them and maybe they can kick the As(s)tros around a little bit. That ballpark is going to be amazing, I'd bet.

I hate seeing pro franchises move around. It kills any sense of tradition. But even I know they have to move. I’m not sure Vegas is a hotbed of baseball but I’m sure they’ll draw better than they are now.

It looks pathetic when they have a day game and it might have 4000 people including players.

I bet they wind up changing the team colors. But I say keep them & go old school...just replace the “KC” hat with a shiny new “LV” and bring back the old unis!!!

"Soon it was commonplace for entire teams to change cities in search of greater profits. The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee where there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music. The Raiders moved from Oakland to LA then back to Oakland. No one in LA seemed to notice."

I bet they wind up changing the team colors.

I really hope they don't change either the name or colors. :/

Their team name should just be Las Vegas Baby!

And basically any time there is a home run, a strikeout, any run scored, or just anything of note that ever happens in any game ever, the announcers contractually have to say "Yeah, you're in Vegas, baby!" and "Vegas, baby, Vegas!" And every Friday night is Swingers Night too.

What the hell are you talking about? The A's have the 3rd most World Series of any team. Only the Yankees and Cardinals have more.
