Ok guys, I know a bunch of you have been to Vegas and I never have. This is going to be a G rated trip because I am taking my 8 year old and we want to see the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon and some of the cool parts of the strip.

Trying to stay away from as much sin as possible, so any recommendations on G rated hotels and things to see in Vegas.

Thank you in advance.

Maybe Im in the minority, but I think Vegas is entirely superficial, overrated, and overpriced. If youre into style over substance, thats the place for you.

Give me NOLA anyday. Its the exact opposite.

For kids, Im not sure theyll like either. My son liked Vegas a bit better than NOLA because of the pools. But wasnt a fan of either.

you know it really is amazing. Working at a hotel I talk to people from all walks of life on a daily basis. And the one thing I can reference that literally everyone gets is Nick Pappagiorgio

In case anyone was wondering, this is an example of a "wrong answer" to the thread

Take the kid to the strip. Find him a ***** and let him live the most memorable sin of his life in Sin City.

Unless we are bringing home a national championship keep me away from
NOLA. I can get mosquito bites in soky and drink bourbon from the bottle

Disclaimer - lived there for a decade, but haven't been back in a few years so this might be dated. Visit Red Rocks if you're into climbing/hiking. Circus Circus used to have some kids entertainment things indoors (circus like), and it always has sticky floors and gross carpet, so that's cool. The shows on the strip are very kid friendly, like the Mirage volcano, TI pirate ship stuff, Bellagio water show. I always recommend Ka at MGM - it's a pretty fantastic Cirque de Soleil show, and from what I remember it's kid friendly. Very visual, nothing to really follow for plot. Hoover Dam is a nice trip. Depending on the time of year, you can take a guided canoe/kayak tour down the Colorado River starting at the base. Lots of hot springs on the way down, and a good guide should provide some nice history lessons on the building of the dam. Grand Canyon is a bit of a trip.

I live in Vegas and agree about checking out circus circus/adventuredome. If you are doing grand canyon I would highly recommend going first to Mt Zion in Utah. From there go to the Grand Canyon from the North. I've taken family visitors to both and everyone enjoyed Zion more than the Grand Canyon. Don't get me wrong the GC is huge, awe inspiring and the kind of place you like to say you've been to but Zion is more fun. Hoover Dam is really boring but its also a very short drive from Vegas.

Whst you should do is drive yourself to nearby Primm, wear some loose shorts, and get on the Desperado at Buffalo Bills. Then carelessly place your trust in your loose shorts to hold your phone, and proceed to lose it somewhere in a giant stucco volcano.

Because that's what I did.
