Instead of some of the mindless chatter some of the other threads have going right now, maybe we can talk some football? Isn’t this weekend the Lasch Bash? Anybody hearing any chatter? New offers? Possible commits? Flips?

I heard some rumors that PSU is hosting someone committed elsewhere? Is it Mathis from Imhotep? If so, it seems as though PSU won’t stop recruiting him and if he is attending, it seems as though the interest is mutual. It would be a big flip as he is the #2 rated recruit in PA in 2025 and has been committed to Ohio State for a while now. Also, maybe reading between the lines here on my part, but is this maybe why Granville reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class?

I doubt the actions of other recruits are having any impact on what Granville does. I'm pretty sure he's doing what he feels as though he needs to do in order to be the best player he can be as soon as possible.

I was thinking more along the lines of PSU suggesting it due to the depth of DE recruits in the 2025 class, especially if they could land Mathis.

Exactly. I’m as exasperated by it as you ate.
Actually, I love it. My days of following sports, with any degree of passion are over. Not even Penn State football sparks the dying embers. I realize that is a minority view here, or is it? Food Porn, Terrible Musicals, SEC Couples....great threads! :)

A little bit of smoke coming in the way of a possible 2025 3/4* DL commit out of MD. A couple of predictions have popped up for Kemajou to the Good Guys.
I think we’ve been the favorite for Kemajou the whole time, MD has been trying hard though.

Now of those discussions are what I was referring to.

I saw a list of potential SEC coaches on the hot seat, which included Shane Beamer. If Beamer and the cocks underperform, does that persuade Lex Cyrus back to PSU?

If they fire Beamer, it's very possible he'd be looking to portal out and one would assume we'd be in line.

The big thing is, where is the hanging rope at for Beamer this year? 5-7 last year was definitely a down year after 7 and 8 win progressions. The schedule isn't kind (LSU early, 3 game stretch of Ole Miss, Bama, and OU, close with Clemson), but they are basically the SEC version of a Purdue. 7-5 looks like a best case scenario.

Yes. Bash to me is associated with music festivals, such as the Bash on the Bay, Summer Bash Indiana, or the Bash Music Festival in Gainesville, Florida. I thought maybe the "Lash Bash" was a Country Music Festival, or perhaps a Doo Wop Revival. Imagine my horror to find out it was football related. Since I had been enticed to enter under what was, at minimum, an ambiguous title, I felt compelled to offer my opinion. Feel free to do the same should I start a thread on Pierogies, Possum Stew, Jenna Fischer, Diane Lane...;)
In all seriousness, since I no longer follow football I had no idea what the Lash Bash was about.

He wouldn’t need to portal out unless they waited to fire Beamer until after signing day, since he is just a verbal commit at this point.

Can't enter the portal until he enrolls. If he signed and Beamer was fired, but before he enrolled, he'd need a release from his LOI

I will say, and @NateBauer did not put me up to this, but if you’re curious about in-depth/behind the scenes recruiting, Penn State football, NIL, James Franklin, and more college football talk in general, now is a great time to test the waters with a subscription to The Lion’s Den. There is almost too much information there - recruit film breakdown, mailbags, weekly/daily chats with insiders, and lots and lots of meaningful discussion/engagement with board members who do not post here. It’s almost too much coverage to be honest but that said, I find myself weirdly transported to the past when I would spend days on the board scouring for any recruiting news and updates from staff who drove on winter roads to watch HS recruits make an announcement which would then be posted to the board. Fun times. We’re almost there again fellas….

The collective BOINGGGGG! you hear coming from The Lion’s Den is over 2026 OL recruit Kevin Brown who just committed. Big, big get - PA kid too.

Nonsense. Franklin can’t recruit PA. He stinks. ALL the good PA kids go somewhere else. Am I doing this right?

What area? You still in the area? The city has certainly changed quite a bit since I lived in town.

I was born and raised in East Reading, South 17th St. I've been a suburbanite since 2009. I'm out in Wilson Bulldog country now.

Technically, I was born in Columbus, but my formative years were all in the Reading area. My wife still has questions about the pagoda.

🤣

Very few places like Reading/Berks. You can go from a very urban environment with all of it's trappings to a very rural area with some Amish or Mennonite guy plowing his field with a horse in a matter of minutes. Berks has a very diverse population and some of the most attractive suburban locales like Wyomissing. It's also home to PA's biggest HS, my Alma Mater, Reading High.

I'm biased but I think the Greater Reading area is a special place.

Love the perspective, and I share it. I always marveled at how quickly you could go from relatively urban to pure cow country.

I also sit back and laugh at how "rebellious" it was for my buddy and I to get pizza at Maria's downtown, as though we were in any type of danger. It helped that my buddy was 6-2, 250, but still.

Edit: Yeah - we were, and continue to be - dorks.

Got a lot of friends that grew up around Cotton St. It's a war zone today. Tack's Sandwich Shop sponsored our flag football team back in the 70s.
