Well according to CBS, they have OU going to the Frisco Bowl to play Jacksonville St. thats kind of like playing those teams you was hoping for.
Who the hell will have any interest in that match-up. Talk about a low blow it cant get any worse unless OU actually was to lose that game if it happened.

Practice sessions, true. However, on some of those lower tier bowl games, the teams actually lose money because the payouts don't even cover their expenses.
Latest projections have OU facing NC in the Birmingham Bowl. I hope they are right though on SMU knocking Bama out of the playoffs despite losing to Clemson. If Bama is to jump them, they would be the only 3 loss team to get an at large invitation. Clemson is in with 3 based on winning the ACC CG. (Auto bid)
It will be interesting to see if the committee hold to this below.
Of note: Manuel said on Nov. 19 that the selection committee holds teams that make their respective conference title games in "high esteem," suggesting it wouldn't punish teams that lost in the conference championship by dropping them out of the 12-team CFP bracket.
“We're going to evaluate the games and how teams play and the performance on the field,” Manuel said. “That's what the commissioners have asked us to do. They didn't ask us to stop right before the championship game, they asked us to rank the teams through the championship game. And I think you can see over the years how the committee has valued those championship games, and who stays in, and where they're ranked."
