Lunardi still has Tulsa out as of today despite beating Temple soundly twice. He dropped Cincy to an 11 seed and Temple to a 10 seed. SMU remains a 6 seed. Not sure what we have to do to gain his respect? We should be a 10 or 11 seed and NOT on the "bubble."

We're on the bubble. 20 of the 75 projected brackets from the so-called "experts" have us in the tourney as of this morning. Seems like there are lots of idiots out there

The chickens coming home to roost. I saw Seth Davis and that ex-OSU player that couldn't shoot FTs, pretty much come right out and said TU would lose and wouldn't get a bid. But of course they said when Temple won, they were "in". Its amazing at the kind of pull these announcers think they have. Who put them in charge?

Do you disagree with that analysis? A loss yesterday and TU would have needed a win at SMU imo to get an at-large.

Temple is still in on 66 of the 75 brackets even with that loss so a win would have pretty much guaranteed them a bid barring a meltdown over the last two weeks.

My thoughts: TU is getting punished for the poor showing at UConn. However, I thought Temple last night played as poorly as TU did in the UConn game. But, no one was watching that game apparently. Temple did not look like a 10 seed or even an NCAA tournament team - other than the eye test of big bodies.

And, reviewing their schedule results, Temple has a win at UConn, at Memphis and the famous KU win in December. Nothing else seemed noteworthy - blown out at Villanova, lost at St. Joes, beaten on a neutral court by UNLV. Of course, Temple doesn't have an "at Oral Roberts" loss either (wish we didn't play those RPI killers).

Apparently beating Temple twice and having a 3 game lead in the loss column over Temple and Cinncy only gets TU in the conversation. On the other hand, I knew an L last night would knock TU out. So, the good news is that TU's fate is still in its own hands. My guess is that TU still has to win the next 3 or at least both home games to have any shot at large. And, then at least one game in Hartford.

It's interesting as always that the 6 teams that are last in per the Matrix are all P5 schools. Hopefully, that won't be the final outcome.

I don't think any of the so-called experts really questioned who we were when we lost to SMU. However, not only losing but getting blown out by UCONN made people doubt us and label the first 10 conference games flukes. Instead the game at UCONN should have been labeled a fluke and games like that happen (i.e. ORU beating TU in 2000). Yesterday's game should have reaffirmed that the game against UCONN was an anomaly...one of our worst performances of the season on both ends of the court. You don't completely discount it because there are some issues for TU to get resolved, but we have played more good games than bad this year. We beat a team twice that most have penned into the tournament. Also, you always hear about Cummings was out, this player was hurt, yada yada yada, so why don't we hear Woodard was sick, Swannegan was sick, most of the team was hurting from the flu for the SMU/UCONN games. It definitely impacted the course of those games. So called experts definitely play favorites. Gottlieb is probably pissed that I still call him out on twitter for being one of the worst FT shooters in NCAA history and I've challenged him to a FT shooting contest in the past as well.

Win 2 more this week and there is no denying us.

OK, Mr Gottlieb, we had two players who couldn't play full speed in the SMU game Woodard with the flu and Harrison with a hurt leg. How about that? Oh, you didn't know about that did ya! Why not? You seemed to know about Cummings injury.

Palm has been pretty accurate historically and has had us sitting around 11 or 12 for the past month.

Palm is ranked 52 out of 76 for sites who have predicted the tourney over at least the last three years. Lunardi is #44 btw. Brad Evans at Yahoo Sports at #35 was the best of the sites I recognized.

Perhaps it's just me.... but how on Earth can Cincy or Temple be in over Tulsa right now? I guess conference play does not count.

Anyway.... Tulsa just needs to keep winning. Just keep winning --- but honestly, I feel we need to go 3-1 the rest of the way to be feeling good before the AAC tourney.

3-1 puts us at 22-8 regular season. One win in the conference tourney, 23-9, RPI of around 35 and we are in.

That said, Cincy is in because they are 2-0 against SMU this season. Cincy has some other good wins. Temple is in because they beat RPI #1 (Kansas). Temple has some other decent wins but they have also faltered as well. While a win over Kansas is great, I feel it is being given too much weight by some of the analysts.

We're the wildcard team this year due to our loss to SE Okla St which isn't showing up in the RPI. We know the committee will take the game into account but what weight will it be given? Go 3-1 and it likely doesn't matter. Go 2-2 with the built in excuse for the committee to snub us and it's "sweating time".

I agree. Why even have conference play if a system screws teams that do well in conference? These butt boys in the media pushing others ahead of us for inclusion in the ncaa tournament are ridiculous.

Just keep winning and and prove those bass turds wrong.

Conference play matters, but so does non-conference, and we have the worst non-conference resume of any of the bubble teams. Have to keep winning to make up for it.

The are two significant problems with TU's resume right now: (1) no good wins and two horrible losses in the non-conference and (2) the bottom half of the conference is absolutely horrible and 8 of TU's 12 conference wins are against that group. Temple is living off that KU win. If TU takes care of business the rest of the way, the sweep of Temple will push TU ahead of them. Cincy is ahead right now because they have 4 wins better than any of TU's wins thus far. However, assuming wins against Tulane and Memphis, if TU beats Cincy then I think TU probably jumps them as well.

Lunardi is wrong if the season was over Sunday Tulsa would be in ahead of Cincy or Temple.

The reason why Temple is ahead of you guys in 99 percent of all the brackets is
1.win over #1 rpi Kansas
2. Rpi-31 Tulsa-42. SOS-45. Tulsa-122
3. Stronger wins and your losses are much worse
4. Committee will take into account that we played our first 10 games where we went 6-4 without Morgan or Coleman who were ineligible for the beginning of the season due to transfer rules

Temple is the third best team in this league, and worthy of a bid. But, we've beaten them twice and they aren't more deserving than Tulsa because of that fact. We had a lot going on during the non-conference, including a personal tragedy within our coaching staff. We're obviously a much better team now then we were then. A contributing factor to our two conference losses was an injured star and a very stubborn flu bug.

Tulsa's grit and determination was on display last night. I believe we'll do what needs doing and make it in and represent the league well. Hope the same for Temple.

I hope you guys make it I really do. You guys need to be Cincy next week. If not then you are in trouble. Our conference is not considered at strong to say the least. Your OOC was not even close to to tournament quality yes you have all thos things going on but going 5-5 with your best with over Auburn and losses to Orla Roberts and a D-2 team is not good. Smu didnt make it last year and our conference was stronger with an rpi of 53 and SOS of like 120. They have 23 wins with wins over Concy and Uconn twice (they both were really good last season). I am afraid that you guys will be this years smu. I think you guys are deserving of the torunament but the numbers don't add up. Tempke better get its act together but I think they will make it as well.

Btw Temple is the better team you gusy were just better by a lot last night.

We don't have to do that. They played twice and Tulsa won both. LOL It's OK, both good teams, but your guards aren't as good as ours. Our coaching staff is a great deal better than yours as well. Dunphy really mismanaged both games. Might not have mattered, but he did some wacky things.

I wish I could be as optimistic as many of you are about our chances for an at-large bid. I think the SEOSU loss is a huge factor. We are in a spot where the committee will be looking for any excuse to put a team from a power conference in over us. SEOSU gives them that.

The committee alternates between "last 10" and "body of work" to get the result they wanted from the beginning. There's no rhyme or reason to it, they use them after the fact to justify whatever they want.

That loss is a well deserved black mark and I thought it would be hard to overcome. It is to our credit that we have scratched back into the discussion. What would our RPI look like with a loss to the bottom RPI team in D1? That would be an interesting point of comparison.

Like how we played the last 2 though and expect we will play our way in.

There is a site where you can change the results and it calculates the revised RPI. I changed the Abilene Christian (300+) game to a loss and our RPI went from 38 to 53.
