The problem is that players have to want to play for coaches. If two teams are offering the same amount then the player will go to the one with the coach he likes.

It’s likely why our NIL is so high. Teams offered only so much for role players and Pope had to offer a little (or much) higher. The opposing teams probably felt they could just find a substitute for the same amount or less.

Players just don’t seem to want to play for Pope for some reason.

Yes but its deeper. It displays team basketball in a way the big man is the only one highlighted. The rest are just interchangeable. So it follows why we cant get anyone, except the big is the quandary.
