Meh, it’s the far lesser of the two major catholic schools on the southwest side. #marist
mildly amusing story. When I first arrived at NU, I met a guy that was a Marist grad, which, I believe, is in Blue Island. I asked him if they went by Chicago Marist or Blue Island Marist. He said something like, 'if we go to the state tournament in wrestling, we're Chicago Marist. The football team is just Marist'.

You need a geography lesson.

How so? I mean, I had just moved from rural Florida, and it was pre-Google Maps so I didn't really know. I just wanted to know if they called themselves Blue Island Marist or Chicago Marist when out of town, like where I grew up and they said Gainesville Bucholz or Ocala Vanguard.

Really hope Lausch is a diamond in the rough, but the track record for QB recruits with zero or 1-2 P5 offers isn't pretty.

At the very least, seems like Lausch will be a threat to run, but will need to develop more as a passer (hopefully, he'll follow Persa in terms of developing into a true double threat, including as a QB who can pass accurately while on the run).

I’m guessing you didn’t read all of the articles about why he didn’t receive P5 offers as a QB? The fact he didn’t have now P5 and FCS offers should be telling. He didn’t have any FB offers.

^ Read enough of them, but not sure if really buy the explanation.

And while it's nice of Lausch to be awarded the S-T player of the year, didn't the Cats have another QB who also won that award?

Brett Basanez in 2000. Justin Jackson also won the award in 2013.
Michigan St QB Payton Thorne won the award in 2018. There have been some really solid CFB players that have won this award since 2010.

Why is the kid only a two star recruit? He has incredible stats and is a bona fide dual threat QB!!!

Early baseball commit. He didn't camp and schools didn't recruit him because it looked like he was headed down a different path.
