Not a surprise. Venebles shoulda never been let go in the first place. He steers the ship now. I'm confident.
I’m of the opinion that Brent has benefited by going to Clemson. I don’t think OU was a good fit for him when Mike was here.
You guys remember 10-15 years ago when Saban got paid a million a year at LSU we were all stunned at that contract. Now Roof is making that.

Interesting article on average SEC assistant coach salaries. Just another example of how the water we’re about to swim in is deep. Wonder if BV’s deal has a clause related to what he can pay assistants (like Kiffin’s says the pool he can pay has to remain at or above league average)? Seems like something he would have insisted on, given the fact he and the Clemson OC were so highly compensated. He’s been on the other side of it his whole career and knows how important it is.

I'm firmly convinced that Dabo made Brent a better coach. BV was in a comfort zone with his KSU, then later OU, cronies. Swinney was old school Alabama and I think Brent got to experience a lot of the Bear Bryant/Bama culture. (Yeah, I know the Bear passed several years before Dabo got to Tuscaloosa.) I honestly believe that Brent Venables was absolutely the best hire the Sooners could've made, especially in light of Lincoln Riley's treachery. Hopefully, we'll be looking back in five years saying that LR did us a favor...time will tell.
