Where does $3M fall in terms of first round pick money? Lottery pick? Mid?
Just looked it up and it seems like 29th pick (which is YL's NBA.com mock) earns about $2.52 million.

Come to UK, earn better than what you would in the NBA in year one, and learn from a coach who was a center in the pros for years and played under/with some of the greatest minds in basketball. Seems like a no-brainer.

This is the best of the best in the portal...Pope better be all over him in case he doesn't go to the NBA
But can he afford to have that money tied up while he waits? Is that a game Pope is willing to play? I guess, even if you whiff on Yaxel, you'll have some quality guys dropping back out of the draft at the 11th hour. Is it worth a dice roll? Guess that's above our pay grade.

Instantly one of the best players in the portal. He’s likely going to take his time going through the draft process though, so there would be some opportunity cost in making him a main priority in recruiting while the other solid options likely go somewhere else in the meantime. I’m glad I’m not the one who has to make that call.

Does he want to improve his draft stock or just go to the NBA. He hasn't exactly been playing against the best competition. His opponents have been extremely weak minus 2 games against Memphis(29 and 24boards combined), Maryland, Drake, and SDSU.

No SEC/Big10/Big12/BigEast/ACC. Not a single game against any team from these conferences last season. American was the 11th ranked conference this past season

Some #s I find interesting:
11.6% offensive rebound rate
24.9% defensive

Near 30 PER
Usage rate, 24%

Is he a big fish in a small pond? I think many NBA teams will ask that question. If he stays in college he obviously could be a difference maker for the best of the best teams in college.

How many years of eligibility left?
I would say two if they aren't counting the JUCO years anymore. But I think he's a one and done if he stays in college. If he's putting into the draft this year chances are he's coming back to improve his stock if he doesn't stay in.

Give me Lendeborg, Fulgueiras and Gwath to go with Garrison and Moreno, and our frontcourt would be stacked.
But I'd be happy with just 2 of those first 3 additions.

Give me Lendeborg, Gwath and just about any of the other decent PF/C options as backups... then focus on PG & SF Keyshawn Hall or even Elyjah Freeman...

yeah, I'm not asking for much

Here’s yet another opportunity for Pope to silence the NIL critics! This dude is a MAJOR need for UK, no excuses (unless there’s an unknown Dent/UCLA connection) here!

BTW, this is what I consider a portal “superstar”!

Come on coach, let’s roll this one, STAT!

Heard that Matt Jones kept hinting about a player we would be seriously involved with that was playing in the sweet 16. Someone hinted to me that it was a player for Maryland. Could have been this one maybe? Guy who told me is a friend of one of the guys on the show.
If it’s Gillespie thats a really good get by the staff, assuming they pull it off

Pope has done a good job recruiting since he has been here. Very few people have criticized his recruiting other than you and about a handful of others that are mostly Cal fans. “No excuses here” lmao you sound like a real moron

You know the chicken man is all over this one. I hate to say it but if this turns into a sheer bidding war we are likely to lose.
