I actually think Riley would be a great hire for them and even though I would hate to see him go its always nice to a school give someone like him a shot at being a HC. Its chances like these that can give folks like Riley an oppotunity to prove themselves.

Does Gundy take over as OC and hire a QB coach? The Riley verision of Air Raid under Stoops cohersion has been explosive rushing the ball and passing.

I have no idea who we'd get to replace him.

I would however have no problem giving Cale a shot.
I dunno. I think if Bob has ideas of making Cale the OC he would have done it when he pushed Huepel out. And think back to when Huepel was shown the door. Who on here had heard of Lincoln Riley?? Same will happen this time if Riley heads to Houston. Bob I'm sure always has a short-list of assistants he has ready for times he needs to fill a spot.

Maybe, maybe not... Could it be that Cale prefers being a position coach?

I've always though this when the topic in the past was always why Cale had not taken a head coaching gig elsewhere. Cale has a sweet gig right now. He is coaching at his alma mater, right down the road from home, and making pretty sweet money. If he is totally happy with his current situation, then why ditch it for more money?? He may be a guy that him and his family realize not everything centers around money. And he may not have a huge ego to fill in needing to prove he can be a head coach.

Report: Lincoln Riley no longer a candidate for Houston job
Per Houston Chroncile

The University of Houston's search for a new football coach could be completed by this weekend, a source said Wednesday.

Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley is no longer under consideration, the source said. School officials went through a vetting process that included interim coach/defensive coordinator Todd Orlando, offensive coordinator Major Applewhite, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, former LSU coach Les Miles and Riley.
