If Jalen Leach is unable to play against Washington, here is the scoring data for every 5 man lineup that Collins has used this year (for 2 total minutes) that doesn't include Leach or Barnhizer.
No garbage time. Games against really bad teams are omitted. 22 total games.
I'm providing this information to the people who are interested.

In the 2 games since Barnhizer was put on ice, Jalen Leach played 69.45 minutes. So we have 11.50 minutes of recent action without Leach and Barnhizer.
5:14 of that time was the much-discussed Blake Smith segment against USC, where we got outscored 18-9. (The full lineup is in the table)
1:00 of that time was Nicholson/Martinelli/Smith/Mullins/Windham, a 3-3 segment against USC.
1:26 of that time was a combined 5-0 run in the USC game, when Martinelli, Mullins, Berry and Windham were deployed with Fitzmorris. then Nicholson.
1:00 of that time was an 8-0 Wisconsin run against Fitzmorris/Martinelli/Mullins/Berry/Windham.

If Leach is out, I'd probably go Nicholson/Martinelli/Mullins/Berry/Windham.
At least positionally, thats close to a 5, a 4, a 3, a 2 and a 1.
Luke Hunger at the 4 may be interesting against the right opposition lineup.

Your last point is what I have been thinking about. Is there a twin towers lineup in our future with Fitz and Nicholson?

Wondering if we see Gelo start or Mullins tonight. I like the Nich/Mart/Gelo/Berry/Windham lineup with Mullins as the first man off the bench. With most of the expectations and subsequent pressure removed, I wonder if offensively we see looser play and better shooting.

I think coach gives Angelo the start knowing Mullins will likely play most of the minutes unless the freshman shows renewed effectiveness.

I'd like to see some minutes with Keenan and Matt on the court together, but I can't imagine it will work for defense very well.

Regardless of what we see, freshmen (and others) will by necessity have longer leashes and not get yanked when they do something wrong.

Also is there a non-zero chance that the plan to redshirt Clayton ends tonight? I think so, but it’s still a low number.

I don’t expect to see Clayton

I don’t expect it either but I wonder what happens when there’s no one left.

Sadly I heard indirectly from a source that Leach might be out for the season with a knee issue. I hope that info is wrong… loved Jalen and his energy and contributions to NU.

My guess, reading between the lines, is that there is already an agreement between Clayton and NU that he is going to transfer and have three years of eligibility remaining and that NU will not play him no matter what. I just wonder if there were any possibility they'd break the glass in case of emergency. Sounds like Coral and Hungry, who know much more than I do, think otherwise.

A buddy talked me into going to the game tonight. I have really, really bad luck attending NU/UW bouts. NIT blowout back in 2012 or whatever. Big Ten football opener this year. Lineup challenges tonight.

Your last point is what I have been thinking about. Is there a twin towers lineup in our future with Fitz and Nicholson?

Washington has a player named Great Osobor who plays like a big bull in the paint. He's talented and will be a handful for Nicholson and especially Fitzmorris and Hunger. Osobor reportedly got a $2 million NIL deal to transfer from Utah State.
He's 6'8" 250 lbs. He draws a ton of fouls. Leads the conference at 7.3 free throw attempts per game.

The other big is Wilhelm Breidenbach, who previously played for Nebraska and isn't too good, but he typically subs for Osobor, I think.

I wouldn't rule anything out, but "twin towers" will not be the first option.

I think Collins will go with Mullins. When he started Mullins in the 2nd half against USC, Mullins played the best 20 minutes he has ever played in his life. Literally.

And if Leach is really out, Windham is starting, right?
Not sure Collins would start both freshmen.
Nicholson/Martinelli/Mullins/Berry/Windham
That may not be guaranteed.

Maybe Collins goes with Nicholson/Martinelli/Smith/Berry/Mullins.

I can't imagine he'll burn his redshirt for this season. If The Cats were sitting at 8 and 4 with a chance to dance again, maybe. But even then I doubt it.

Is it a foregone conclusion that he is transferring after the redshirt season? Not sure I understand the point of the shirt if it is a mutual parting of the ways.

I dunno about a guaranteed transfer, but I'm sure Clayton is paying attention to Windham and probably realizing his best bet at NU will be as backup pg with limited minutes and even that will depend on how the next class pans out. He may decide he'd rather star somewhere else.

It seems all parties would benefit from a transfer if Clayton wants to play basketball.

I’m not at all about running guys off but realistically I can’t see Clayton playing at all. West comes in next year, KJ already here and I assume we will bring in a grad transfer PG.
