I always could sleep till around 10-11 am. No longer. Once I hit mid 40's I awake around 6:50-7:15 a.m.

How about you?

I used to get up at 4:45 to hit the gym at 5, on my way to work at 6:30. Now retired, I’m rarely at the gym before 8:30. I’ll be in my car on my way to the gym by 8 tomorrow, just saying. (Life hack of mine, say on this board that I’ll do something and I invariably do it.)

I am. Like you I used to be able to sleep late. At 42 I am out of bed at 6:30 every day. Weekends included. I don’t even bother with an alarm anymore.

Never much of a sleeper. My last couple of years at PSU I made sure I was in bed by 11:00 each weeknight so I could get up at 2:00 AM and get to the computer lab.

My first 6 years or so after graduation, I tried to be in bed by 11:00 so I could get up at 4:30 AM to hit the gym before work.

I sleep a little more now but I am rarely in bed after 6:00 on weekends, 5:00 on weekdays.

Same here. Growing up I would regularly sleep in until late in the morning. However, at 48 I now automatically wake up between 4 and 6 am. It sucks!

Mornings blow. But you get used to forcing yourself up against your natural sleep/effectiveness cycle because everyone else does it. Have to be up 5:30 to get going and then get the kids moving for school ... but it would be an awesome dream to have society accommodate those of us meant to function at night. Getting up early has never gotten "normal" for me, despite being what I do.

Out the door, momentarily.

I used to live to sleep in. Absolutely loved it. However, I’ve been working in schools for 18 years now and the schedule has beaten me down to the point that I don’t even try to sleep in anymore. If I can wake up on a Saturday or Sunday and see a 7 as the first number I consider it a massive victory. During breaks I will still fall back into my natural inclination to stay up very late (3:00 is a typical summer bedtime) but I’m still up early.

When I was little, I used to spend time with my grandparents ... and noticed that grandpa was usually up quite early in the morning listening to the news on the radio and drinking coffee ... that has become my normal routine since. Normally awake before 5 am, but since I'm deaf instead of listening to the radio I read the news and posts on the McAndrew board on my laptop while drinking my coffee.

I was a morning person throughout my working career, mostly out of necessity due to a long commute, but still so even with a 10 minute commute at the end of my career.
Now retired, I am all over the place. I can get up early, but mostly only if necessary. If I sleep in, oh well. It's nice to not have that stress of morning work obligations driving the alarm setting.

I love mornings, it’s a great time to go to bed.

Im not sure it’ll ever flip for me, I love being up during the night. My great grandfather was a surgeon and scheduled all his surgeries in the middle of the night. It’s genetic.
