This guy sure knows the x and is of football! Guy is super knowledgeable. Can recall every play of each game. Amazing to listen to. I guess he grew up with football and has seen it all. I see him improving as a HC as is the team. I am starting to feel much better about UK football.

I love Stoops. I really hope he pulls this out.

Proof that people have sad expectations and know little about football.
1. Every coach should know about football basics and plays.
2. How is losing to the CUSA (a pretty bad CUSA team at that) and beating the 2 worst teams in the SEC (same ones he beat 2 years ago) improvement?
3. I want to barf.

It is unbelievable all the pumpers getting onto people for our fans not being pleased and happy with a win over Vanderbilt In which we won on a dropped wide open TD pass. It's such a hapless fanbase. Where if we barely beat Vanderbilt in year 4 of the mark stoops project then we should be content, happy, and jumping with joy. And they act as if we should be proud of Stoops and everything he's done for beating 3 very very bad teams and losing to a very very bad team in which we lost to the OC WE JUST FIRED. What were we at this point the last 2 seasons? 5-1 with zero quality wins? Now we're apparently supposed to be pumped about 3-3 with zero quality wins? When are our fans, according to the pumpers, allowed to actually expect IMPROVEMENT? 10 years from now? Or is that too soon, should stoops get another 20 years to prove what he can do? If you were to listen to the pumpers, you better bet your butt he deserves 20 more years of stealing money to prove himself. Because we all know it takes 20 years to build a winning team in the SEC. Singed MSU, Vandy (franklin), SC (spurrier). It's just sad to be honest.
I with you. That being said If Stoops can salvage this season somehow some way get to 6 but tell you truth woukd like to see 7. If he can bounce back 2nd half get wins MISS ST, MIZZ,UGA, AUSTIN PEAY. I'LL tip my hat to him cause he has been under some heat. If we can get W Miss St then get Barker back for Mizz on It has to be a shot in arm getting the WIDEOUTS back involved with big plays. I dont think we can get all those W's with qb play. I think MISS st is a must win and you have to pull all the tricks out of play book. If you Drop Mizz and Barker isn't ready yet play by UGA game then we must get that Win if we drop 1 of the MISS ST/MIZZ GAME. With our revamped Running attack and newly found passion on D I do believe we have a punchers chance. That also being said If he does not make a bowl I truly believe changes must be made. 5 Wins is not cutting it year 4. I want a winner in here to compete in East. Im sick of allways finishing in the basement with Vandy or uscjr. I really want to see 7 wins for me to behind Stoops for another season. Thats 7 regular season wins. If we get to 6 fine to all the pumpers he goes to bowl then wins bowl that would be a nice lil shot in arm for program. Then he can attack recruiting in a new way. If we get 7 W's and get a bowl W finish with 8 what can you say. It Made me eat Crow which is fine. I just really cannot see us getting there unless Barker gets back. Bottom line, this is the last season of 5 or less wins!!! If Mitch brings him back only with 5 W's he needs to really win big next year period I love Kentucky ever since I was born and love football. I want to see a real winner on field. If he can bounce back and get 7-8 wins he should get coach of year in SEC. I have my doubts but Love Kentucky. Same. If Stoops can pull off 6+ I will tip my hat to him, admit I was wrong. But that just simply isnt happening.
You would think he would be able to do better against inferior teams with all that knowledge. Losing to Vandy last year and USM this year cost us and may cost us a bowl two seasons in a row.
Look he has got to pull everything out of the play books and everything out of his hyoe machine in lovker room. I would love to get back to back W's in SEC. When is last time we have won 3 SEC games in a Row? I just do not see it unless Barker gets back very soon. With our run game Barker will be able to set up nice play action. Barker isnt Johnson with his feet but is still capable. I think Barker is Key if this team wants to Bowl.
We got upset, it happens to just about every team does at least once a year. Can we move on from the southern miss game! Or how we barely won against eku and ull last year. South Carolina and Vandy a bad team blah blah blah. We've read it all 4928473 times. When cal loses a game to miss state that has better talent are we gonna gripe for six weeks about it. He took over this team FOUR YEARS AGO. Can we please stop making excuses for him? Other coaches have it way worse yet do way more. Why does it upset you to point out the fact that we beat the 2 worst SEC teams and 2 of the worst P5 offenses in the nation?

The pumpers get mad when someone brings up facts so use the "what if" factor or tell us the facts dont matter and that we are just negative.
And you lost me comparing the anger of a multiple final 4, championship winning coach losing an SEC bball game(a reg season bball loss means nothing) to a football coach who in 4 years is just now at 15 wins, no bowls, and yet to be .500 losing yet another football game.
I was happy when we hired Coach Stoops, especially after the recruiting. Coach Stoops comes from a good pedigree of football, and was a really good DC, as we all know. However, Coach Stoops is hired to WIN football games. This is his 4th year, and I haven's seen that much improvement over the last two years. If he beats Miss. State, Missouri, and AP, then he definitely deserves another year. If he wins two more games, he will get another year, and I have mixed emotions on it. With that being said, he does have around 18 starters back next year, so he probably should have the opportunity to coach one more year at UK.
I truly hope he is successful, because that will mean the team and players are successful. We all know it was quite a learning experience as a HC the first 3 years, but I'm sure we have noticed improvement. He still has a long way to go, but I think he is starting to catch up with the game. I really believe Coach Stoops is a good person, and I hope he will be a good coach for a looong time at UK.

Last time we won 3 straight SEC games was in 2006 (Miss St, UGa and Vandy). Those were the 3 games after the 49-0 beatdown at LSU. Turning point of the program at the time. We followed that up in 2007 by beating Arky in our SEC opener. So, we won 4 straight SEC games in 06 & 07.
The last time before that we won 3 straight SEC games was in 1999. We beat Arky, USC and LSU.

That's been a problem either in the second half or coaching decisions during the game. For sure he's not been as savvy as I hoped he would be but I will wait until season's end to have a real opinion.
Why would anyone find something new to complain about outside of losing? Losing a lot of games is why we complain. What are we supposed to complain about since we suck if not losing? Maybe if we stopped losing you would stop hearing it?
Have been behind Stoops since day one. Did the same with Brooks. Paid off with Brooks. No reason to change now. Count me as a proud pumper.
There's no doubt he knows the game. However its all sbout the Jimmies and Joes not just Xs and Os. We need depth on the lines.
With you brother. It's sad that we are completely dependent on the East being down, a favorable out of conference schedule, and hope and prayers to make a bowl game. Just don't understand why we have such low expectations for the coach and team.
About 80 out of 129 teams make it to a bowl game each year which is good odds within itself and we are on the outside looking in each year due to poor game management and coaching. Loser mentality to accept mediocrity at a time when the expectations should be that we get to and win a bowl game, not if.
And i guess 3-1 isn't good enough losing only to the best team in the country on the road, while holding them to lowest total of points on the year.
We have started winning and he roads get louder and louder.
Winning three in a row sounds like quite a feat but considering the three home wins would be against teams with a combined 2-8 conference record is not going to tell us much. We are ranked ahead of three teams in the SEC power rankings and it is the three that we could beat to get the three in a row. The above reference had a UGA win. That's a big difference.
Until we start competing with the upper and middle of the SEC we will not change the direction of the program.
Edit....After looking at the Power rankings we might not have to get great to win in the East. Teams 9-14 all come from the east. How we have done so poorly in this division takes some work.

I hope Stoops can turn the program around , I want him to succeed . If it doesn't happen then we'll move forward but I'm going to support my team and coach until that time gets here , it doesn't get here in the middle of the season .
We effing won Saturday. We've won 3 of 4 - which means, 3 out of our last 4 games "we stopped losing", as you say. Yet, we are still hearing all this bitching. What gives?

^ Exactly. Youngest team in the toughest league. Let this year play out. I think our defense has improved as has the oline and rbs. Lost our QB. WRs and TEs are better if we get the ball to them. LBs and DEs are playing better. Changes on d line has it improved. Coaching has been better. I'm with you. Let's see what the rest of the year brings and support the kids and coaches on our team.

True....most posters, who post now, want instant "gratification". (Younger folks!) KY football, is what it is....we have moments, but that's it. Getting rid of Stoops and hiring another new coach, is not the answer...just a contionus "visicious cycle".....
I just don't get what makes folks think UK has turned the corner. I'm hoping they have. Offense looks stuck. Defense has improved. QB play is so critical though. SJ must be able to make some throws or SEC defenses will stop the run and UK's offense is done.

Very annoying. I am still very upset over how the team started the season, but I love wins. Wins are always good. Maybe we will win so much, we will get sick of winning.

Everyone is happy to get the wins we have but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that those wins were all ugly as hell agaonst terrible teams and that we are not where we should be in the tenure of 4th year coaching staff. We're simply not. It's not unreasonable or negative to point it out. Stoops has taken steps towards righting the ship. Keep chipping away each week like we have been and we will get where we need/want to be. The bottom line is we're going as far as Johnson can take us, which means the backup QB card is already in play when it comes time this offseason to decide if another 5 win season was enough. Hinshaw needs to spend 22 of 24 hours every day these next two weeks with him.
No, they weren't a given, and I know how the "if" game works, but Vandy dropping 3 picks and muffing a punt pretty much gift wrapped that game....and they still missed two wide open targets to tie the game at the end.
Stoops is trying, to say the least, but clearly over his head at this level.
There's a big difference between knowing a lot about football and being a successful head coach. There's also a big difference between knowing a lot about X's and O's and being able to develop players. CMS has not shown the ability to do either - be an effective head coach or develop talent. In a word, he's a dud.
I am in the camp of its year 4 and we still aren't very good. I expect this program to be better than it is. I dont call out kids on social media. However, its alright if I say we still arent a very good team and if that pisses off KSR, Freddie Maggard, momma Griffin, Mitch so be it. Expect results or this program will always be this way- mediocore to terrible at best.
