They only have three downs and some other different rules, but its not bad football.

Well, they also have a 55 yard line, a 20 yard end zone, a wider field(though I don't remember the exact width). They're also allowed to have two men in motion, and I think they get a single point if the opposing team fails to return the kickoff.

There are some key differences but the principles of blocking, tackling, throwing and catching still apply.

The goalposts are like in the middle of the end zone and I think opponents are allowed to have a return man behind the goalpost in the event of a missed field goal or extra point. Don't remember exactly though. I'm not watching it to see.

I one time saw a team score a point for making the opposition punt the ball. Needless to say it ruined the entertainment for me and could no longer watch a game with such blasphemous rules. I hate CFL rules. But it's summer football which is ok. AFL>CFL everyday of week. Way better players in AFL. The players are paid much more, for instance a few make more than a million per season and the average salary is 400k as apposed to CFL and it's average of 60k. Not only that's AFL is much more exciting, way more entertaining. And the quality of play is generally just way better than the CFL. Give me AFL ball everyday of the week over the CFL. I need summer football and NBA summer league games to get me thru the offseason since my reds always suck.
