Anyone else in and around Lexington lose their local television stations? I use Roku to stream. I understand that they are having a pissing contest right now with Google but didn't think that had anything to do with local stuff. Having the local channels was half the reason for changing to Youtube TV to begin with.

I just have the news folks stop by the house and tell me what’s going on. WKYT people cook some dinner and tell old war stories and what it was like during the Great Depression. WTVQ staff install light bulbs (it takes all of them). WLEX gals help me out in other ways. And FOX56 sings me lullabies and tucks me in.

Or you could use an antenna. Whatever is easier for you

I heard that on WTVQ news, they turn around on set to watch WLEX news.

Digital antennas are $20-30 bucks. Don't understand why people always say this is an issue when selecting streaming service. "They don't have the local channels" Is hitting the input button on your remote to switch between TV and Input 1 2 3 or whichever the Roku is plugged in to that big of deal?

I am responding to a few of you sans the comedians. I had the local channels as part of my Youtube TV subscription for the past three years up until about a week ago. All three have been deleted from my list of channels. They are simply no longer there. I understand digital antennas but chose to subscribe to Youtube so I didn't have to deal with that.

There's an app you can get on roku that you can put your city in and it will provide all the local news. I don't remember the name but you can Google it

Check your “Live Guide” settings via phone app or browser (you won’t have the option on a streaming device like a roku or Appletv). If the channels aren’t selected, you won’t see them on the guide. I’ve had members of my family accidentally remove channels from my guide in the past.

It’s nicer to have everything easily DVRable, and in one interface.

Not really. You also get many additional air TV channel. The "hassle" is literally no different than when you change a channel or navigate through various apps on Roku. Everyone is certainly entitled to do whatever the hell they want, I have Slings entire package. The only answer I ever here on this is always easily distilled down to laziness . I just don't see any valid reason not to have digital antennas on all your TVs..

If you want to DVR something on the locals and only get them they an antenna, you’d have to buy another device to record them.

We use Locast, which works great, I pay $5/mo without the interruptions. It’s only for select cities though. I had an antenna but the service was really spotty so I splurge the $5, plus get a pretty good selection of channels.

How do you DVR your local channels content, an HTPC?

Maybe I just don't watch as much TV but I see very little need for DVR anymore with On Demand offerings but if I did need to DVR things from the antenna my cheap TCL Roku TV allows me stick in a USB drive to act as a DVR.

Got all my locals on YouTube. If they would just add fox sports Ohio it would be the goat streaming service hands down.
Totally agree. DVR is awesome. Unlimited and it records until a game is over. You don't have to worry if you set your DVR for long enough.
Also, you can set it to for a team you like and it will automatically record the game in case you forget. Best DVR going.

Somehow my current playback area got reset to Charleston WV. I have no idea how that occurred. I didn't do it. Just glad to have Bill and Nancy back at 5 pm.
