"In this day and age, it's hard to live up to the hype. Fans were deeply disappointed in Anthony Davis in 2012. All of them screamed OVERRATED to me all season.
Okafor, however, has really lived up to the hype as one of the most polished low post prospects we've seen come into college ball as a freshman. He has incredible hands, excellent footwork in the paint and a soft touch. You just don't find guys like that every day. Maybe once a decade. Clearly, the numbers are supporting that."

Anthony Davis was a monster...MONSTER. Screamed overrated?

That shows you how much he lacks the understanding of basketball..seriously...

The only fans screaming AD was overrated are imbeciles who reside in Louisville and Bloomington.

Yeah, Anthony Davis was overrated. He just happened to win every award possible, and lead his team to a championship. Chad Ford is a dumbass.

Okafor is good, really good. He's the best in the class, but he's not as good as I was expecting. He is somewhere in the range of Wiggins or Noel. Anthony Davis? Once a decade player. It's not even a debate at this point.

His crap brings an old saying to mind. It is far better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Lol Chad is not calling AD overrated. He's speaking about certain fans.

Believe it or not, there were people out there who thought he was overrated as a draft prospect. I still remember people telling me how he's too skinny and under skilled.

He was proclaimed before season ended as a

"Untradeable player, maybe only for Lebron/KD and that's only next few years."

Dude showed nice FT shooting AND he shot nice mid range jumper.

Who the F ever said he was overrated. HE WAS UNDERRATED pretty much the whole time in UK.

Nerlens were considered Defensive specialist. He lived up to that and SOME. His offense was bad..but that's how he was rated coming out of high school. WTF is chad ford smoking. No one ever said Noel were going to be franchise player.

No, he's talking about himself, saying that was his opinion.

I'll just simply choose to NOT believe that crap opinion. Anthony Davis was player of the year, for Christ sakes ! What kind of haterade is this loon drinking? That rates up there with some of the dumbest takes EVER, and that says alot. Geez. Anthony Davis overrated? dammit, that is hilarious. pure gold.

And Noel? Does this guy not realize he got injured halfway thru the season? He's just a hater and half rate hack.

He said "they all screamed overrated to me all season" . I was assuming "they" is referring to the fans from his first sentence, maybe I'm wrong.

Pretty sure he's referring to the fans. In the same article you took that from a couple paragraphs down Ford says Okafor doesn't have the ceiling AD has and he'd put him at 2-3 of recent #1 picks behind Davis.

Anthony Davis, the 2012 National Player of the Year and Final Four MVP, is currently averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks a game for the Pelicans, but yeah, he was overrated.

the one thing that bugs me the most is how the "best" player is always in most everyones eyes, the guy who is a great offensive player. Okafor plays average D, that should somehow be noted when a player is supposedly the "best".

Id take DMC all day everday with out blue tinted glasses over Okafor.

I debated your point with myself for a few minutes and re-read it several times and have come to the conclusion that you are wrong. He says, "All of them..." That simply would be awkward to refer to the fans as "all of them." However, if "all of them" refers to the 3 players, it does make sense.

I think he has a valid point but only if he left AD out of the discussion. But then, he is only talking about 2 players and that seems to water down the point he is trying to make

No I'm pretty sure I'm right. I've read the entire article which is a back and forth between him and Pelton on ESPN insider. He's talking about the fans. He gives his own opinion in the piece and rates AD as the best #1 to come out in the past 5 years and states Okafor doesn't have the upside AD does. So he clearly doesn't think AD is or was overrated.

If you are right, then I would have to say that Ford did a poor job expressing himself. I hope someone can ask him about it and give us an answer.

Any fans who screamed overrated about AD were Kentucky haters, plain and simple. I would actually say the same about Noel. He carried that team and dominated defensively all year.

Wiggins was hated on in large part because he was always compared to Parker and Randle (and Lebron, ridiculously).

Okafor is a really good player, but who is he being compared to? Towns is playing well, but only 20 minutes a game. Alexander and Turner are developing.

Okafor stands out not so much because he is a once every 5 year talent, but because he's playing well in a lot of minutes for a top team, and no other freshman really is.
