EKU was not terrible. The defense was very good -gave up some yards to EKU in the run game, but every series made big plays that put EKU behind the chains. They made it across midfield a number of times, but could never quite get into field goal range due to timely sacks and tackles for loss by the defense.

More big plays are there for the offense, but Pass’s inaccuracy when throwing the ball downfield is the limiting factor there. His completion percentage in this game was much higher (63%) than against Notre Dame, but some of that was due to the 1-foot passes (forward handoff out of the shotgun to the receiver in motion). He was definitely better in this game, but we are still looking for a complete performance out of him.

I agree he got better as game went on for sure I just hope that he can get out of the “one step forward - two steps back” mode. Though talked about a ton, it’s hard to overstate how his on field results up to and including even his mechanics, are so directly tied to his confidence level. That may never change enough to get him to an elite level but he’ll need to “fake it till he makes it” as the throwing windows get tighter in the coming weeks.

You hit the nail on the head. His confidence is so shaky and I, like you, fear he may not be able to over come it. I was happy to see that he came out the second half and was able to put the first half behind him. I see improvement, although its slow, but he is improving. That is about all we can hope for and expect. Patience is the name of the game.

That’s what I saw. I think he actually relaxed and that was the difference. His confidence grows with each competition

Not trying to be negative Nancy but 50 of those 198 yards were the forward jet sweep to Tutu Atwell. That’s essentially a running play that gets credited as a pass. To get above 3-4 wins we’ve got to have more consistency from the passing game. Don’t need to spectacular, just keep the chains moving.

True but we’re talking baby steps here. He started with those and progressed to more mid range passes as he felt more comfortable. I agree with the consistency statement. And believe me I was not happy with the passing at the end of the first half. But he just seemed to be more poised in the second half and his throws were on target. I just don’t see MC as a big enough change to make a difference. His pass was a floater, which is what we saw from him last year. We bounced around QBs last year, neither QB could get traction or develop. I don’t want to see that happen again. I just think we need to stick with one if that one keeps improving. And Pass seems to be progressing.

I'm not a fan of pulling Pass at this point. I think if they pull him it's over for him mentally. The only way he's going to develop confidence is if he makes mistakes and doesn't have to look over his shoulder. As long as he continues to play hard, run the offense the coaches want, and stays healthy, he should stay the starter for this season.

It seems like when Pass has a designed throw called for him he does well. But when he has to read a defense, drop back and find a receiver on his own, he gets in trouble. I hope he can get it together.

Well, I hope it wasn’t the fact that we scored quickly after halftime and he was able to relax some. 21-0 is a lot different than just being up 14-0. Will need to see how he performs in a tight game.

It's a rule. Just as sacks come of your rushing total even though it's not a "rush".

It counts as passing yards.

And it takes GREAT timing to not stink that up.

Majority of QBs are picking up padded stats due to YAC on short stuff. Hopefully teams see the film, bring an extra defender up to stop it and Pass can hit a big play.

The pass took arm strength, timing and touch which, if you’re comparing the downfield ones that Puma overthrew / didn’t put enough air under them - it may have seemed like it was a floater.

But it most certainly was not. In fact, IMO it was the best throw from a UofL QB all night.

I’ll have to take your word for it. As I recall from the angle from my seat it looked to float. Unfortunately it was on ACC Access so I didn’t record it so I could rewatch it.

Shouldn't the receiver been able to run after catching it? How great of a pass could it have been? Im wondering cause Pass was criticized for that on his early pass to Marshall when Marshall fell after catching it,

I personally think the best throw was Pass to Marshall. Marshall was on the move and had he not stumbled he would have had a good gain. The pass was where it was suppose to be and Marshall stumbled.

So the play was intended to not give the receiver any chance to make a play for extra yardage? It was a good throw but it wasn't perfect. Had it been Pass the Cunningham supporters would have been trashing it because the receiver had to go get the ball.
