ul fans trying to spin it that we are paying him and others and that we threatened to pull his scholly if he took the visit and ul wasn't sure if they would offer. i still can't believe those guys can accuse of cheating so much. it's like swaggart telling people not to fornicate.
the jv bball coach from harris's highschool is still sticking with us buying players and shelling out amazon giftcards. he's promising to tell all when damien leaves school.
i find it funny that a ul fan, who just had illegal dealings with 2 recruits who are playing at other schools without ul's cheating affecting there eligibility, would be so cautious of ratting us out. i also find it highly unlikely that damien was telling the jv basketball coach about his recruiting trips to lexington other than being overly generic. i mean, who is "close" with the jv basketball coach? and ul fans are eating up his "in 3 years im gonna drop the hammer on UK" spiel.
(3 years sounds like he does not predict great success for Damien)

Really the truth is the Louisville recruiting media made this into a deal...and maybe screwed Petrino in the process...if they don't let it out, UK staff likely doesn't find out and the visit happens...same thing happened with Dawkins.
I think reporting the "harassing" comments was pretty juvenile of a reporter...also juvenile of Hughes to say "either Looney wants to win, or other things are more important to him"...you would expect that from a fan comment on a message board - not the reporter....can only imagine how he frames questions to these recruits....
You are right what you have said though - the football staffs didn't do anything out of the normal and neither did the player...but the reporting was unprofessional to say the least.
Actually I didn't know about it...I'm one of the few that actually doesn't listen to Louisville media...pretty much listen in regards to sports to SiriusXM College Nation and SiriusXM NFL Radio...just can't listen to either station...been pretty much locked into the NFL and the Rams move to Los Angeles...
He was bold enough to publish it in an article/update. Hughes is really the only story in this deal - the rest was business as usual.

sad truth is most of the 'reporters' who work for school message board/blogging sites are just fanboys who try to do just as much recruiting for the school as the coaching staffs. UK guys are professional and do not stoop to such antics, either on this site's various contributors or 24/7 or scout.
I believe UK had a defensive tackle that is currently committed to another school that would accept a UK offer if made. I suspect the UK staff informed Looney that they want commitments from players who want to come to UK and if Looney continued his recruitment with other schools, the staff would take the other DT.
There is nothing wrong with such communication. If UL fans think Petrino does not do the same thing, they are delusional. In fact, Pitino has consistently done that throughout his career as UL's basketball coach.
Sad thing is that that isn't true....Hughes is under the 247 umbrella...and Howie under Rivals...I am not sure how Howie handles articles, but Hughes was pretty awful in this situation.

I know it happens first hand....a relative was recruited by Louisville and was a verbal...decommitted when Charlie Strong went to Texas and now at Wisconsin as a WR/KR....most on LSR that know me know who I'm talking about...had a big issue with Lamar Thomas

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Can't get "over a barrel" with these recruits as they have in the past. The next three weeks will be wild enough - need to minimize defections.
