very sad. I recommend listening to the 1801 Media interview by Syvelle Newton with him this past summer. Knew he was getting old and he sounded old. Knew it wouldn’t be long but it still sucks.

If we don’t have Lou in the early 2000’s, we certainly don’t get Spurrier. And there is no telling how bad it would’ve been the past 25 years for Gamecock Football.

Thanks Lou!

Another one of my favorites. "Jap Brinkley gets to the ball in a hurry, when he arrives, he's not in a good mood". Paraphrasing.

This football from the spring of 2002 that he autographed was the first thing I looked at when I found out he passed, The autographs faded somewhat, and it's deflated worse than a Patriots issued Tom Brady special!

I also remember being so excited when his name became connected to the Gamecocks, he rescued our program and made us relevant after the Brad Scott era. Thank you coach Hotlz for the great memories!

He and I are Kent State grads. Very fond of Holtz. RIP

Let's share our favorite quote-

If Ryan Brewer and a pregnant woman, Ryan would come in 3rd!
"You're never as good or as bad as you think you are. You're somewhere in between."

When one of my sons was attending USC, he got Lou to sign a Carolina hat. Lou wrote my name on it. Then Lou wrote: "Michael tells me you are a great father". I still have that hat and will until it's my time to take the exit ramp on this road trip called "life on earth".

Thank you to Lou for being a member of our Carolina family. He will always be one of us.

I have on more than one occasion referenced Lou Holtz as "the man who brought South Carolina football back from the dead" and I firmly believe that statement to be true!

I loved Lou! What a great person, family man, leader of young men, true patriot, much more. One of a kind - a powerful voice in a small frame. I loved his lisp, especially when he said names like "Sidney Rice." Turned our program around from the dead. Met him a couple of times at Gamecock Club meetings - just as nice as he could be. RIP Coach Holtz!!

That's not even a pot calling the kettle black. That's more like a cesspool calling a tea cup nasty.
You're being too kind calling Olbermann a cesspool. He's an angry, bitter, lonely person.

He might be the first person who ever had something bad to say about Lou.

Of course, I doubt he actually thinks Lou was a legendary scumbag. Olbermann knows he's completely irrelevant, so he's reduced to periodically making shock posts on X to keep his name out there.

I think you are wrong on that. I think Olbermann definitely believes that and he would think the same of me.
He as no moral center so everyone that does is a "scumbag ". It's why yo can't have a civil discussion with those that believe like him. There is nothing in common and no common ground with those without morality.
