4. Louisville: This should have been very simple for Louisville. Win the game against Kentucky, go to the Orange Bowl. Do what you’re supposed to do at home against a 28-point underdog and spend the next month patting Lamar Jackson on the back for winning the Heisman Trophy while preparing to enjoy a week at the Fontainebleau on South Beach and debating whether this was the best season in the history of Louisville football or the second-best.

Instead, Louisville suffered a shocking 41-38 defeat as Jackson committed four turnovers and can only hope that it will still get a decent bowl somewhere in warm weather. Regardless, it will be hard for Louisville fans to feel good about the way the season ended, going from No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings to a humbling 36-10 loss at Houston to the humiliation of losing at home to Kentucky. This simply wasn't the way it was supposed to play out for Louisville, which had buried lesser teams like Kentucky over and over again this season.

There is still a Heisman Trophy to celebrate, probably, but the overall vibe of what Louisville accomplished this season will have a tinge of disappointment. Opportunities like this don’t come around very often for non-elite programs, and Louisville just didn’t finish the job.

They create their own misery by assuming they are better than they really are. The fall is much harder. If they kept perspective and understood they are not elite it would not hurt as much. This one got to sting. Fools gold.

Love the dig at ul. But pretty disrepectful to us. He clearly didn't watch the game if he thinks we are so much less a talented team. We put up 581 yards of offense.
Comparing us to thE crap teams on ul's schedule outside of clemson, fsu, and houston (to a lessor extent) is just ********.

Well that's USA Today calling UL a non-elite program. We don't have to say it.
It's Nation Wide!

What was clear to me was that beyond Lamar Jackson, those two teams are pretty even. Nothing but respect for that dude.

And yesterday, our guys rose to the occasion and played better, even with LJ on the field.

That was not a fluke win. Certainly, could have gone either way, but Cards were not 27 points better than us.
