I’m not sure if I’m out of hipster loop these days and this is common knowledge....

But I found two great places last night that I want to promote.

1) West Sixth. Their grand opening was supposed to take place during initial covid shutdowns. Has open atrium, patio seating and balcony seating. Was legitimately excited how nice the setup is. Post covid this place is going to slaughter it, with four bars in atrium eventually.

2) Twenty Ten. Place had ad spots at Lynn Family Stadium last year but didn’t open til fall. Also has heated patio and balcony seating. Three huge rooms inside. All beer brewed in house.

Both are perfect spots before Lou City games.

Anyways, posting this because I went out in Louisville last night and went to both for first time. Legitimately the most excited I’ve been about new places since covid. Thought I’d share.

West Sixth same company that has the bar/brewery in Lexington? They are right on the Legacy bike trail, and should do a great business once warm weather comes and the virus continues to fade away

Yep. That’s a great route too. No food at brewery in Louisville but pizza place next door

That area is great if you want to be a crime victim or be confronted by woke protesters who will flip your outdoor dining table over for attention to their cause. We had a record number of shootings this past year. We had a downtown carjacking epidemic that was so bad that the FBI had to be called in to bring it under control. Dozens of businesses were vandalized and looted. Many will never reopen. In NULU, the business owners were extorted by the BLM activists to give them a share of their profits among other demands. The soccer stadium was stormed by protesters during a game. Downtown and surrounding areas have been set back by a decade or more thanks to those losers. It is not a particularly safe area these days, IMO.

It’s pretty ghetto up in there.

Also, I included a pic of sportsbook in Clarksville that also went to. Highly recommend once this covid **** cools down.

People were pulled out of their cars and mugged this past summer. The soccer stadium was stormed by protesters during a game. That area has been set back by a decade or more thanks to those losers. If you’re intimidated by humanity, I’d suggest a guy like you start at The Craftery, where you can knit and do arts and crafts while drinking. Y’know, ease your way into it

Sorry if I am not a cheerleader for crime. Many businesses have closed in NULU thanks to the combo of Covid and crime. I hope you get a nice dose of humanity the next the you go there snowflake. Enjoy your soccer beta boy.

Oh no, I’m not a cheerleader for crime. I just think you’re kind of a beta if you’re intimidated by hipsters in nulu.

And it’s good to know you went to Trinity. That story has been used by suburban mothers to scare their kids from leaving their neighborhood for decades. And I’m sorry decades ago two kids died before gentrification in smoketown.

It’s whatever though. Weird posts by you. Not even close really. One area of downtown still reeling is the 4th street area but you have no idea what you’re talking about otherwise.

Also, I was at that game with “protesters”. It was 10 people at a gate and people gave them beer. Get outta here

What’s funny is that I woke up yesterday morning and went to Smoketown. I brought my dog. Walked her down Kentucky Ave while my wife got some bagels and lox in Logan Street Market...a place you’ve probably never been to because it’s not Target. Anyways, had myself a bagel and coffee outside. I was accosted by a random car, it was pretty terrifying. Two girls stopped to say my dog was cute. My street cred went way up after that.

You are an idiot. Please go down to gentrified Smoketown and walk around at night. Enjoy your soccer beta boy.
I have walked around there at night. Went to a place called Trouble Bar, which has some of better bourbon selection in the city. Between that place, the art bar, Red Top and Logan Street, there’s three pretty cool bars right there. Again, that’s something you probably have no clue about based on other posts.

If I don’t have the possibility of being accosted by white hipsters chanting Black Lives Matter while out to dinner these days, I don’t even want to eat at that restaurant. Might as well just go to Applebee’s.

You need to get woke and "hipster" mister, that's all an idea!

Louisville could be Nashville if we had Tennessee’s tax code. So sad.
While I agree with you on the taxes, every time I go to Nashville I spend half the time wondering why people want to live there. Guess it’s different if you like country music.

you haven’t seen much of nashville If you think it’s about country music. Just as 4th street isn’t Louisville, Broadway isn’t Nashville

No I’ve stayed there for extensive periods even for various conferences. Stayed in different parts of city. I’m not saying it’s not a fun town, but if not for country music, there isn’t anything in Nashville I can’t do in Louisville. I think Louisville actually has a better food scene.

They do have pro sports. I give them that.

As it’s gotten bigger too I actually like it less. Too congested. I’d love to see Louisville take off like that, but at same time, livability is pretty important.

all of America disagrees with you. Nashville’s “food scene” is among the best in the nation.
I’ve heard a lot of Louisville people say what you said. But the reality is, people flock from around the globe visit Nashville all year around. People come to Louisville one week a year. Its a shame, because they were the same city 30 years ago. Louisville has some nice pockets, but Nashville is the case study in how a great tax code, smart investment and great leadership can make a city take off. You can trace the change back to the construction of Bridgestone and doing everything the could to attract a hockey team. Then they figured out how “outside money” snowballs wealth creation and growth...

also, they have three real professional sports teams.

There is a dog park in Fair Park my dog likes. So, that’s something.

But I’m just being honest though. I don’t find many redeeming features about Nashville. All is relative. I know people like it (and quite frankly over hype it), but it’s not my bag.

Understood. It’s a preference. No right or wrong. But by any measure, Louisville is considered far inferior to Nashville. Wasn’t that way 30 years ago

My work takes me down 2nd street to the bridge maybe 3-4 times a week. I like to occasionally stop on Main and enjoy a meal. It's not been the same since Mayor Bikelane sold out to BLM. Doc Crow's, the Omni, most of that is just now getting back into the swing of things. I'm not even sure if Sidebar has reopened? Louisville has suffered from the last 8 months. I've never felt unsafe, but let's not act like it's butterflies and puppies all over Louisville. Just be smart about when and where you go.

Do people in Louisville still like to claim that it is the 16th largest city in America (technically, it is- it went from something like 50th to 16th overnight, after the city county merger)? Louisville is a nice enough place, but, if not for Derby, it would pretty comparable to Dayton.

I understand what you’re saying about objective measures if looking at growth. But a lot of those metrics can be misleading. For instance, I have a good job and job security where I live. Like my neighborhood, friends, family and I like my craft beer. There is nothing about a growing market that actually benefits me by moving there.

I actually agree with everything you posted here and it might be the first post you’ve ever had that I agree with.

I’ve actually been in Florida past 6 weeks and just got back to Louisville. Was happy to see downtown starting to hum a bit again. Makes me legitimately happy. Good news in covid age, at least to me.

I’m not trying to say you should.

I’m in the exact spot you are. But if I were starting out and had to choose, it’d be the easiest choice ever. If Ky ever abolishes the income tax and Louisville elects decent leaders it could explode just the same as Nashville. It even has more natural advantages than Nashville

People are more 3 dimensional than this board allows. I'm not a bad guy lol.
The Covid year hurt, but I literally saw the protests unfold all summer. It really did more damage than people think. The police station is still boarded up. I'm hoping for a better mayor, next time, and better times ahead for Louisville. The one-two Covid/BLM debacle was bad.

Butchertown had a great bar I loved, years ago, called "Meat".

My next door neighbor works for the fire department and drives a vehicle with the state logo on the side. Other than that it's just a regular red pick up. He still gets rocks thrown at him when he is downtown. I won't be going downtown any time soon.

Yeah, nashville is basically the city of the south now imo, taking over Atlanta.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's losing some if it's old character bc of all the out of towners that now live there and Broadway is becoming to franchised as opposed to the places that used to be down there.
