It is sad but I am convinced we would be celebrating if we could get this kid just to make us again think that we have someone who is actually recruiting. I have seen him multiple times. He is a typical 6-5 white kid who is a solid shooter. Defensively he is a liability. There are about 30 of his type in the portal. He isn’t close to the same player Dalton Kenect was. He isn’t going to break the 125 final 4 drought.

The problem is that Pope does nothing well as coach.
That is a video game highlight reel. Every team would love a shooter like that. Kid does not seem to need to be squared to knock it down and really seems to have a great release. Barnes seems to know how to land that OAD career non-P4 shooters. That is what you wish Noah was. If you bucket like that, not being a great defender is workable. It’s when you are a liability on defense and cannot consistently get your shot on offense you have to sit.
He’s definitely a pure shooter if he can get a look, but I’m not yet convinced that he’s a star at this level. He was at TCU for 3 years to start his career and could barely see the floor. His stats are nice the past couple of seasons at Belmont, but I can’t find that they played a single game against power conference competition during that time. I’ll need to see him actually prove he can hang in SEC games before assuming that Barnes put us to shame by signing him.
And Pope will probably continue to own Barnes and UT
Barnes gets a player from Belmont. Pope has gotten players from Oklahoma, Bama, Florida and a few others that I can't think of at the moment. This comment just seems odd to me considering the topic is a player from Belmont.

He will be a Senior, so it's hard to know if he wants to just finish out his career at Bellarmine, but he had a very good game against us.
I do not know if KY would be interested in him, but do you think he's worth a look ... if he enters the portal ??

Pope knows he’s got to get this right, there will be plenty of good players in the portal that want to come here. The worst thing pope could do is to go out and get the first ones that show interest in coming here. The staff KNOWS they have to be the RIGHT ones after last year, injuries can’t be helped.
there will be 2000+ players in the portal. you never blow your wad over the first 500 guys who entered. better players always enter late
So if I remember correctly, this is the same school that Feldhaus decommitted from and was mocked yet losing this dude to the Vols is a big deal? Just trying to understand the bipolar response of some on here. When I look up and down this board I see recruits we are allegedly link to: from schools that as Milt Wagner once put it, are one of those directional schools. East South Missouri Tech comes to mind.
