I was seeing reports of u$c calling Lester; obvious pranksters. He must be near broke to take the ku mess
Nope, not at all. That's the funny part, he was still under contract at LSU for an additional $6.5 million in salary in monthly checks until 2023. He negotiated a buy-out of $1.5 million -- leaving $5 million on the table. Kansas will obviously be paying him much more than $5 million for him to give that much back to LSU.
He is definitely a rich man. KU just seems like a terrible landing spot. This a place where the coaching carousel has been going on for years as their record teeters on a bottom 10% tile of FBS.
I like the idea of Les Miles at KU. He'll be good for the conference. Hopefully he'll get them winning 8 - 9 games a year, decent bowl games, etc. before he bolts for the next big thing.
If you recall he took over an OSU team that was not faring much better than Kansas and did a pretty good job. He beat OU in 2001 & 2002 and played us very close in 2004.
KU football is a train of propane tankers going around a mountain bend at 100mph. The stadium is a dump and the fans are few. If you notice, they rarely show the stands on televised games as they are barren. Les has his work cut out for him. It won’t be easy to change that culture.
I wouldn't call their stadium a dump. Where else can you lay down and take a nap while watching the game?
I remember seeing that for first time. Bush league...bet that mildew smell is a real added bonus. They could shrink that stadium by 75% and still never come close to a sell out. They are an outright embarrassment.
