Well done. Let's get some size on him

yea I agree. Maybe it's just the photo but he does look very thin and frail. Need to put some meat on those bones :) anyway he obviously has lived up to that 4th star so the talent and potential is there.
Well done young man.

Just about 20 lbs to his frame, & he may end up with a striking resemblance to another QB playing in the state of KY…

the staff supposedly thinks he could be around 6'4" by the time he's a rs freshmen. im guessing his dad and mom are tall but that is what i heard. not worried about weight because we can put it on him by his rs soph year when he will be competing for a starting spot.

I am not going to fret over body weight given the kind of reviews the kid's passing arm is getting.
Body weight and lower body strength mean the difference between being able to take the SEC pounding and being injured all the time. Look at quarterbacks who stay healthy and succeed in this league. Most are muscular with strong legs. Jones is not big enough for SEC play yet. But he still has plenty of time to work on it.

I'm not concerned about a young HS kid's build, he has time to bulk up. I am very concerned about a 180 lb JUCO guy's build.

Me too. Curious to see if S&C can improve that in a few months.

If you are referring to Steve Johnson, Kentucky's SID listed him at 195 pounds prior to offseason nutrition, conditioning, and lifting. So unless you have weighed Johnson yourself, your concerns might be based on a false premise. But I consider quarterback to be the number 1 question mark for our 2016 team. Not because of weight. I am concerned about execution. It will be a test for Coach Hinshaw, but I'm glad Stoops saw the light and hired a quarterback coach.

BD, somewhere on this site is an interview with Johnson from weeks past and in it Johnson himself states that he weighs 180 lbs. He said he knows he needs to gain weight and is working with the UK staff to do so. Therefore, the source of the 180 thing was Johnson himself. Yes, he and all others need to execute but at 180 lbs SEC OLBs/DEs will break him in half.

Johnson does not weigh 180 pounds today. By September, he will weigh 200 pounds. He still has 6 months of nutrition and conditioning ahead, and he has a bigger frame than Mac Jones has. I believe Hinshaw brought in Johnson to be the starter if he can learn the offense. Johnson is a hard worker, and he will be the subject of a custom prep job this spring and summer.

Stoops recently said he badly needs weight and strength.

Well, it's pretty obvious Johnson doesn't know what he's talking about. He can't weigh 180 cause BD says he doesn't weigh 180!
