Riley and Eichorst aren't f&c%ing around!! This isn't Cally refusing to fire his buddy Coz and Pederson letting him go down in flames. This isn't T.O telling Bo to get rid of his idiot brother and Bo refusing. No more nepotism and buddy buddy crap getting in the way of winning!! If you aren't pulling your weight as a coach or recruiter buh bye. This is a cold cut throat business and Riley and Eichorst are determined to winning championships here!! And I for one...freaking love it!! Make Nebraska great again!!! GBR!!

I suspect this is more our evil AD than our head coach. JMHO. Personally I'm not doing cartwheels over Banker getting canned. I can understand Stewart wanting to be a coordinator again.

You have a strange definition of evil. Would hate to see someone who really is. What has he done to deserve this title? Did he call some bad plays?

The big question: Who's driving these changes?

Is it Riley? Is it the Riley Whisperer, executive director of player personnel Billy Devaney? Is it athletic director Shawn Eichorst, who wants to know so badly how the Husker team is doing that he stands among the players — giving them fist bumps, patting helmets — during games? If it is Riley, he'll have to have a compelling answer when he addresses reporters about this. A very compelling answer. You don't just let go of a close friend — after nearly two decades — without concrete reasons. This is uncharted territory for a guy who prides himself on loyalty.

Loyalty has its limits — the 40-10 Iowa loss might have been it. OWH

I like that HCMR has the balls to do what he thought needed to be done. Do you think this will have any effect on recruiting going forward? I also wonder how this might effect the play on the defensive side of the ball. Some of these guys have been through a lot of changes and having to learn a new scheme might be tough.

Good and necessary move. It still begs the question why we spent the last two years finding out that these guys were exactly who we thought they were two years ago.

That is the reason I think the order had to have come from above.

I'm so fired up (in a good way) about this. I admit that I never saw Riley doing this. I've been so down in be dumps since the Iowa game...never want to see anyone lose their job, but I'm excited for the next DC.

I think a lot of it is Bill Devaney. I think they brought him in to be the Ying to Riley's Yang. Riley is the head coach, but Devaney is basically the GM of the team, and is guiding Riley on these personnel moves

I should have used an emoticon. I was being sarcastic poking fun at the Pelinistas.
Yes, you are often sarcastic and fun. Good to verify; animal spirits are high with this move. IMO they are moving very rapidly compared to other situations.

To be fair, look at Stewarts resume. His true replacement was on board and an upgrade imo. So he was basically redundant and made a good career move. Banker had improved things by moving him to coaching safety's and coaching the cb's himself. .... Coach Banker really was at Oregon State - so with what was available here, it had to play out. We have had coaches in the past come in with fewer credentials and make it. In any case, this is still fast on a comparative basis imo. GBR

He should of never been hired. This move just gets the fan base excited again. Just buys time and just delaying the inevitable

I think these moves are recruiting related vs scheme/coaching
Riley knows we need a big upgrade in talent if we are going to compete

My gut thinks that Riley underestimated how difficult it is to recruit to Nebraska. Many people older than 40 still think of the late 90s when Nebraska is brought up. I suspect with that frame of mind Riley and company thought recruiting would be easier and are finding out that recruits know very little about Nebraska football in its glory days

I'm really hoping it is Riley sh*t canning the assistants and NOT Eichorst. I'd be bummed if an AD is having to tell the head coach how to coach.

The inevitable success that will stop you from posting your inane posts here much longer? I'll take it!

You really are a bad troll... the good ones play good cop/bad cop and at least throw in some positive posts to make people think you are a fan. You just post negative all the time.

If this were a pay board and your contract was ending at the end of this month, it would not be renewed.
