I watched Moreno in high school a number of times and, contrary to some other opinions, always thought he was a very good Center prospect – Tim Ducan-ish in style. But the one thing I thought would always limit his upside was his shot form from the FT line and 3-pt. line.

The funny thing is, Moreno didn’t use this cock-it-behind-the-head form when he took a quick 10-12’ in the flow of the game. In fact, the shot looked fine in those instances and was pretty reliable. I think that bodes well for a fix. This kind of fix has happened a number of times even at the NBA level.

I read somewhere – and maybe it was just here – that Pope does not try to change shot mechanics. If true, I think that’s a huge mistake for Moreno. I would like to see the staff break his shot right now – not even wait for the end of the season. In season change might not be the wisest approach, but I don’t believe his shot will ever be decent until the form is changed. And that would be a shame in my mind because it’s a huge weakness that I believe could likely be fixed.

I couldn’t have said it better. Hard to be consistent from the free throw line when he cocks it back a different distance with every shot. But then he goes 7 of 8. So maybe they have fixed it or worked on it.
