Anyone had any experience with this place? I know it is a driving range but I'm interested in the Junior Golf program for my daughter.

Opinions?

It has been over a decade since I took lessons from Myra Blackwelder at Man O War. She is no longer there. However, I was impressed by the entire program and their professionalism. I wish I could tell you something specific about the junior program. I suspect that it is top notch.

Curtis Mitchell heads up the junior program. I've heard great things about it. I think it's $70 for four junior group lessons. Unlimited range balls for the day of lesson too.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate any information. My daughter has become quite the golfer here innTaiwan. She has copied her swing after Minjee Lee and hits it a mile. For someone ten years old she hits 200 yard drives and can really putt. Since she is going to be 5'10" or taller she has the physical stature to be a very good player.

I am moving back to Kentucky so she can play golf all the time, and want to make sure she gets the golf education she can't get here in Taiwan.

Again, thanks guys.

Think I'd just head on over to South Korea. They seem to have the ladies' golf thing figured out.

I've seen a few people post similar things. I had several lessons with him and don't have a bad word to say about him. He helped my game tremendously at the time.

ditto, plus works very hard, unusual for a golf pro, IMO

Well if you are Korean you get support from the government if you show promise.

The kids go to regular school from 8-12 and then play golf the rest of the day. The Korean gov. Sends the really good players to Australia to practice when it's to cold to play their.

They have that golf thing figured out because they want everyone to play. Their are driving ranges in every small city and 100,s in the large ones. You still must be dedicated but it's much easier when your government supports the effort.

Well, much as I love the USA (and golf) I sure hope we don't decide to spend limited resources and tons of public money in hopes of developing a handful of world class golfers. Seems like a pretty F'ed up national priority to me. I can think of maybe 10,000 more important things to spend money on.

You're moving half a mile away so that your daughter can play golf a little more? Seems legit.

Your thinking like an American. To understand the Asian mind you must live here. Koreans, and most Asian countries see the amount they spend on golf as a good thing. They want everyone to get involved and out of millions they will find the best players and give them the resources to succeed.

Just think how it works in America. To be a great golfer you must be involved with a country club that costs more than many want to pay. The Koreans feel that their are hundreds of Tiger Woods in their population and if they find them early like Tiger, they can develop them into great golfers.

It costs millions to join country clubs in Asia but in most of these countries they let Juniors play free. No matter who they are or what the family is worth.

Also the fact that they have so many driving ranges is a big factor.mThese kids hit 10000 balls before they even get to the real course so it's easy to find the great players from just the good ones. They first started with the women and now they are are focusing on the men and that could turn out the same as has for the women.

she hits 200 yard drives

False
Why would you say that she can't hit a 200!yard drive? In fact, she hits it farther than my wife. She may be only 10 but she is already over 5 ft tall plus she is strong plus she has had two years of lessons from the same guy who taught The 3 LPGA players on the tour now.

By the way, she hits her 7 iron 150 so I guess you doubt that as well. Haha

Threads like these make me appreciate my parents. They let me enjoy my childhood and didn't try to live out their sports fantasies through me, thanks mom and dad.

Your right, I'm lucky that my daughter loves golf more than spending all,day indoors playing video games.

Anytime she wants to quit that's fine. And since she is half Asian, she is great in math and is by-lingual so she will do well if she never picks up a club again.

Why would you think I am pushing her toward golf? She loves the game, not because of me and her mother but I would be an awful parent to not do everything in my power to make her dreams come true.

Right?

No, my parents were very nice to me and never put any kind of pressure on me like moving half a world away to play a game.
I am from Paintsville. My daughter was born in Taiwan with duel citizenship. I moved to Taiwan for my job and so my daughter could learn Chinese since that is her mothers language. She never picked up a golf club til two years ago.

So moving back to Kentucky is not for her but for the whole family. Besides, I still own a home in Paintsville so I'm not moving half way around the world so she can play golf. Kentucky is my home and will always be.

I really don't care.

I ask for information about Manowar. All you did was make rude comments about something you know nothing about. For someone who says they don't care you really had opinions about what is going on in my daughters life. Glad you don't care cause you have no opinion.

Have a nice day.

I've been nothing other than helpful. Not sure what the problem is.
