Tulsa won a Sweet 16 game on March 24, 2000 with a victory over Miami.
We lost to North Carolina two days later in the Elite Eight. We should and could have won the game.
What a fun weekend in Austin.
The weekend is one of my early rememberances with Li'l Eric Coley.

Who else made the trip to Austin that weekend?

Not to Austin but I was at the Final Four in Indianapolis. I had hoped to see Tulsa there but had to watch UNC instead. Had a nice chat with John Thompson and Tubby Smith. Great time. I doubt Tulsa will ever get that close to a Final Four again unless Chris donates $50 mil so we can buy players and a coach.

I was in Austin and it was my sophomore year in high school. I remember us being up 1 at half, but we had our worst shooting night of the season and lost by 4. We were the better team by far

My wife was 8 and 3/4 months pregnant with our 2nd child and we were unable to travel.

25 years later, that young lady has graduated summa *** laude from the University as our family’s first 3rd generation attendee. Some of you may also remember her playing piccolo in the marching band.

Today she is a 3rd year medical student at OSU and just this week she and her husband announced that she is expecting their first child.

That one’s arrival was probably worth missing a couple of basketball games for.

I was at Austin and had "refundable" SWA tickets to Indianapolis for the Final Four but went home.

I am curious why this thread is titled 2020 instead of 2000. 2025 would have been 25th anniversary

I think we were all in Austin and at SMU that year. But the most fun may have been in Nashville beating Cincy.
I was in Nevada working for $15/hour and trying to figure out where I could see the games.

Back in March, 2000, I probably would have gone to one of the following in no particular order:
* The Little Nugget and had an Awful Awful burger with a cold beer.
* The Sports Book at The Atlantis.
* Coach's Grill and Sports Bar on Virginia St.

I ended up at the Hilton (now Grand Sierra Resort) sports book. Alas, the little Nugget and the awful awful have faded into history.

Yes, I was sad to see The Little Nugget was no longer open when visiting in May, 2023.
Never stayed at that Hilton, but you couldn't help but notice it.
I was really disappointed to see Little Philadelphia Cheesesteak had closed.
That was always my go to for lunch after leaving the car rental at the airport.

Did you get to see us play in the Conference tournament in Fresno? I couldn't make that long trip with a potential Nashville trip the next week.

Nope. Back then basketball games were few and far between and there was no “ESPN champ week”. Tournament broadcast games were all PAC-12 teams out here.
