What a fantastic young man we have on our team. Great story on Marcus off the court and the impact he has on other's lives. He is representing UK in a positive way. Take a minute to read this story. Marcus is a real role model. Mike Decourcy tweeted this link out.

Thanks OP, really puts things into perspective doesn't it? And thanks to Marcus for coming to UK, we are lucky in more ways than one to have him.

He is certainly a great young man off the court. On the court he is learning to play and I believe that he will eventually have a very solid pro career.

This quote was fantastic! I may use it as a signature:

"There's only one type of joy. Instead of going out and buying something for yourself to find happiness, you can go help somebody else. I think that's honestly a lot deeper, because no one can take that. With everything else, people can take away your money, take away your favorite car or your favorite shirt. If I break my ankle, that could take my joy because I can't play basketball anymore. But making other people happy, I can do that no matter what." ---Marcus Lee.

This is an act that makes me proud to be a UK fan and also shows me that we still have great young men in todays world. This gives me great pleasure and my thanks goes to the person who posted this, it is appreciated. Marcus Lee is a great example of someone giving back in a very special way and that is taking the time to spend time with people who are in need of a feel good experience. This also reflects very well on Coach Cal and the players he recruits and that of course makes me proud that I'm a Cat's fan also. Positive article and great tribute to this young man that reflects very well on our program and swells my chest a little more. 31-0 and players that give back. Wow!

Goosebumps! Great story and read. Lee is special and if he played before the Cal era he woulda been a superstar. He still has time to grow on the court. He seems to be a leader off the court by a wide margin

Marcus will get his ! He might end up being the spark we need

I just read the article that someone had posted on Facebook and what a great representative of UK basketball Marcus Lee is. Really blown away by that article in such a good way. I had no doubt that all of this years kids seem to be great young men but Marcus Lee is on an entirely different level. Loved the quote by KAT that Lee is probably the best human being he has ever met or something to that effect. It appears this thread was not posted until a little later in the evening but I certainly hope a thread that brings to light the character of one of our players as this one does gets more traction than it has thus far. This is worthy of a three-four page thread in the least.

Kudos to you Marcus Lee and God Bless you for your spirit of serving others.

But but but.....everyone knows these kids are thugs and mercenaries that are only interested in themselves. If you don't believe me just go read any of our "rivals" message board, they will set you straight

My wfe actually stumbled across this article last night, and reading about Lee's trips to the Children's Hospital almost moved her to tears.

Good to know Calipari recruits high-character individuals whom he encourages to give back to the community as opposed to a coach down the road whose players wreak havoc in their community.

Thanks for posting op....great story. Another reason to love this team. No me-first players...and another reason to love Cal's recruiting. He doesn't get guys like this just by accident.

And you have to give that mom a ton of credit too. sounds like she did an excellent job with those four young men.

This article is almost a copy and paste from one two years ago about nerlens. Even the quote from cal, "why didn't you tell us you were doing this stuff". Two great kids. I posted months and months ago about Marcus having the best attitude on the team (Willie the worst). Of course no one took my word for it, but at least the first part is confirmed now. Ask around campus and you can easily verify the 2nd part true as well.

I was working the stage at dance blue when he got up and played nerf guns with all the little kids. You could tell he was having a blast and was a very caring person. I'm proud to have players like him at UK.

Very nice piece, and a wonderful young man. His family must be very proud. It is interesting how all the Cal distractor's out there choose to simply ignore that many of his recruits have been, and are great young people. I hope Marcus has another shining moment of a game in the NCAAT this year. Clearly he deserves it.

U of L fan here. Absolutely great story...more fans on both sides should respect the truly great people who may play for the opposing side. Helps put the rivalry in perspective. I wish Lee were a Card for multiple reasons after reading this.

This should get Traction with national sports media. It falls in line with Bilas' argument about "Kentucky is doing it the way we all want it."

It is starting to pick up a little steam with the media, and deservedly so. I just saw Kaylee Hartung tweet it out. This deserves endless retweets and posts/bumps. Marcus is truly an inspiration.

"Faith over fear", that is wise advice from someone as young as Marcus. I love the human interest stories like this on our players. It helps to get to know what they are like off the court. I can't really add anything that is anymore eloquent than what you guys have written above. I'll just say I'm happy and proud to root for a young man like Marcus Lee.

Would have been nice to be able to read the article. Too many pop-ups for the C-J news paper. Finally just gave up.

Got me too fellas.

Cal is a great human. He recruits good kids and teaches them how to be better citizens. He's so much more than just a basketball coach.

The same thing happened to me but I kept trying until I got to it. In my opinion it is well worth the fight with the pop ups. Good luck.
