I think this is a very talented team. It was rated a top 5 class. Of course that was counting JQ and Lowe to be major contributors. Still, even without them these players are far better than they play. You can see with the latest throwing the game plan out the window at halftime and going spread the floor hero ball that they can play. That's not a recipe for continued success but it shows there's more there than Pope has been able to coach.Agreed.
- It may be the case that the talent doesn’t mesh due to the shooting woes
- It may be the case that injuries have affected the rhythm and chemistry
- It may the case that these guys genuinely don’t like each other
- It may be the case that Pope hasn’t cracked the code and figured out the best way to take advantages of the strengths of this roster
- It may be the case that the slow start has gotten to guys’ heads and morale has suffered significantly
- It may the case that the minutes/rotations have caused continuity issues and rhythm issues
- It may be the case that disciplinary issues have been left unresolved
-It may be other factors not outlined here
It’s probably a combination of all those things. Pope is the coach and he ultimately gets the blame regardless, but I’ll tell you in my multiple film reviews, I’ve came away very dissatisfied with how the coaching in-game was performed. The man didn’t have a brain injury in the off-season, so I expect some of that to get figured out. Some of it may not be fixable — that remains to be seen.
We have far more coaching issues than player issues. But, we are quickly headed for player issues next season. Won't that be a great combination? No players and no coaching!
