Yea, it was not fun to follow, and it sucks we can't just put a bullet in these guys' heads.

What does "Tiny" get for his role? He was already on felony probation forever. I assume he's going back forever.

I think Tiny did it, tbh.

Matt, while a criminal, he seemed to making money, employing others, etc. It just doesn't make sense why Matt would wan Alex dead....of course nobody will know. What they said at trial led you to believe Matt and Alex's business partnership was pretty important, and they even made arrangements for Matt to take over the MJ business when Alex quit. Why in the world would Matt flip out and kill his key to the connect, ruining that potential business, and the rest of his businesses.

Counterpoint. These dudes are lying and on all the drugs. Who knows what really happened. The trial just didn't add up.

Pretty messed up all around. I had met Alex a couple of times and seemed like a great guy.

I agree. I think Ballard may have actually killed him although Taylor sure seemed to have planned it. If I had been on the jury I would have argued that point. I was surprised the deliberation only took four hours or so. Both will be in prison for some time so that's good, but I don't think what really happened was answered. Or maybe I thought too much into what guys messed up on drugs can do.

That's 80, apparently. And also, there was much more to this story, imo. I believe Mathew was a coke guy, and that was the other part of their relationship. Mathew was clearly the bigger player here, but the defense painted a different picture. Mathew had no job. Tiny was his "personal driver". lmao. For some reason we don't know, Alex needed to disappear. The part about meeting Alex's supplier was weird, too. The whole friendship angle seemed odd. I feel like Alex got mixed up with a guy he shouldn't have because of drugs.

As Sheriff John Bunnell would say, "he's going to be going away for a very long time."

I don't recall what was mentioned about meeting Alex's dealer. I did find it weird that the defense referred to them as best friends.

Ballard reached a deal for his testimony. Kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence. POS will probably be out in 20 years with time already served counting.

Ballard probably took the deal knowing that otherwise his *** might get convicted of murder. He had already served 17 years for first degree robbery if I remember correctly.

i love how the same crowd (present thread excluded) that usually is loathe to trust the government to do anything is gangbusters to have the government execute people. I don't trust the government for ****, and sure not to make the right call on guilt or innocence and further at a level that allows them to execute people.

That would probably be because it's not completely up to the government. As with the case the thread is about, you are tried and judged by your peers. If you are found guilty of premeditated murder, you should be put on the fast track to death. I'm all for execution, and stiffer penalties for all jail-able offenses. Prison needs to be a place to be feared, not a place to relax and think about what you've done. Getting a degree while in prison...GTFOH!

You obviously didn't follow the trial. These two clowns were ratting on eachother. It was weird and it was obvious they were both heavily involved with a heinous crime and coverup.

Attempted to cover-up. Don't know if it was mentioned in the trial but there was at least one surveillance video, and several witnesses at different points during the ordeal.

You seen a jury lately Holmes? I'll leave it to you if you have.

You're gonna need to explain your comment a bit more. It's way to vague for me to comment on. Are you alluding to age difference, gender makeup, class of people?
I mean, let's just cut the jury out of it completely. If there is substantial evidence that someone really screwed up (armed robbery, murder, etc..) then they can't blame the jury when they are found guilty. Not talking about you, but it's always those that look for an "out" that always ***** about the laws and judicial system.
