Is Notre Dame underperforming due to the transition to new coach Marcus Freeman, or was this Brian Kelly getting out of dodge because he knew the 2022 team would not be very good?

He was misquoted, he didn't say he wanted play with dogs, he meant he wanted to play like dogs.
I didn't watch the game. Did he play, or was he on the sideline like in the 4th quarter of the OSU game?
I think that’s a fair account but can only imagine how the board would lose its mind if the trib said something like that re Hull’s fumble.
Fortunately, we are less relevant than most Illinois high school football and horoscopes, so I don’t see the concern ever materializing in any media form.
With basically his season already over after the first two games, Freeman is now coaching to prove he belongs. Maybe these struggles will sway one or two key recruits away from his program.
Maybe Freeman swaps jobs with Urban before the end of the season? I imagine Freeman would be a pleasant analyst. As it is...the broadcast team of Quinn, Leinhart, Bush, and Meyer make me want to throw my tv out the window.
I don't even think Frost would qualify for the Nick Saban school of redemption.
I think it is less about "his players" than it is a young, first time head coach feeling his way. They'd be nuts to overreact to 3 games.
Maybe if the new regime has entirely new schemes (but the best coaches adapt to the talent/players they have), but in this case, the Domers run the same O and D.
Problem seems to be that that they don't have a QB and their O-line isn't as good as it has been.
