I haven't seen any of these "IP Man" films but I stumbled across some of the clips on YouTube and they look interesting. Anyone seen any of them as look at this clip of the 1st one:

I think they're about a half-dozen of them from 2008-2013. I l want to see that first one.

That clip I linked in the op is the literal most explicit definition of 'beatdown" ever on a couple of those.

Havent seen those, but love the Shaw Brothers Films. Lone Wolf and Cub are still GOAT in my mind.

The intro is sick:

Agreed, I have seen 2 of them so far.

Haven't caught the 3rd one yet either. My father in law bombards us with martial arts films with every package from Malaysia. Donnie Yen, who plays IP Man is in a lot of other action movies and is effing awesome. One of my favs. You should also check on Sammo Hung is great too. Older martial arts actor who is actually kinda fat, but moves like with the grace of a wild deer.

But my favorite is Tony Jaa. He is the best martial arts actor since Bruce Lee. No one is better than this dude. No one.

Have actually done that myself a few times. Used to practice with them when I was younger. I Tested for my 3rd Degree in Tang Soo Do the 17th of this month. Am a 2nd Degree in Kyokushin. Decided a while back practicing with a Bo is safer and more practical.

I should watch IP. I'm a huge fan of the classics. Like a lot of stuff. I'm stubborn when it comes to **** I don't know.

For sure. Considering Ip Man taught Bruce Lee. It's pretty cool. Chinese guy starts a martial arts school gets bullied by the Japanese occupation. Wha-lah. *** kicking.

If you haven't ever seen it. Clive, do yourself a favor and watch Ong Bak with Tony Jaa. Prolly the best martial arts film in 3 decades.

I've seen them all - Donnie Yen is my favorite Chinese actor. He even has a major role in the new Star Wars flick coming out in December.

Two things. My guilty pleasure is The last dragon. I'm currently watching The get down which reminds me of the last dragon without the kung fu. It's a great show. I think all of you will like the get down.

As soon as I'm done with The get down, I'm watching IP man.

Your avatar says it all for this post.:fistbump::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Dont you dare bash Saint Kurt Thomas and his blend of gymnastics and karate.

Thats cool you still study. I trained mainly on wing chun for years (though, I did try other disciplines). I quit do to life, but at the end, was working on my drunken style technique (serious). Wing Chun was invented by a woman, so my size was a disadvatage, so I used to shift my weight around, and found drunken style would let my my wrist strikes be more effective, all while having really good follow up options from trapping to plam strike, all while using your weight to sidestep/hold back their arm. A lot more judo-esque in a weird way because of using my weight to add to theirs. I tried getting back into a few years ago, but my foot work was terrible and relied on trapping hands a lot.

Main reason for me is to have something to do in my later years. 59 now and still playing softball in city leagues here. The stretching and reflex's I work on help me continue to play. Played in D nationals in the OKC Softball Hall of Fame stadium the weekend before testing for my third degree. We sucked so, it was over in three games for us but, it was a nice venue there and the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich they made was pretty good.
