Comics fans - Which universe do you like better? As a kid, I liked Marvel better. As an adult, I like DC better. Batman is my favorite. My top 5: Batman, Superman, Spidey, Daredevil, Captain America.

Always liked Marvel better. Was a big fan of Spiderman and the X-Men growing up. I still prefer Marvel with the whole Avengers setup. DC is lagging behind on building up their Justice League movie.

Batman is goat, but prefer marvel universe
Pretty much where I fall in. Still love the 1st 2 Spiderman movies with Tobey Maguire. Wish the 3rd one was about Harry becoming the hobgoblin and they stopped it with Peter and Maryjane riding off into the sunset instead of the turd they made. Anyway Batman, then Spidey, then the rest of Marvel. I hate Superman.

Marvel's characters are cheesy.

DC's are waaaaay better and it's not even close.

Marvel's heroes are too shallow and lack depth. DC's are dark, distorted, flawed and the story lines are are waay more deeper. The villains in DC are waaaay more complex.

The Flash over Spiderman.
Batman over Iron Man
Wonder Woman over any ***** Marvel puts out (Mav)
Cyborg over Falcon
Arrow over Hawkeye
Superman over Thor (Thor sucks)
Green Lantern is the ****
Hulk is prolly my favorite of the Marvels (but he still lacks character development)
Aquaman over Nemor. Nemor. WTF is that sea faring Aquaman wanna be?

I like the Hell's Kitchen in Marvel, but I think they learned to make those characters dark, complex, and flawed after stealing the idea off DC's character's traits. Basically Marvel is ********.

X Men are for nerds with small dicks.

Gonna be tough for the Marvel fanboys to make a legit argument that refutes willy's eloquent words of wisdom.

That is funny as in sure Batman is dark and gritty but I've never thought of most of the other DC characters that way. Well I guess they are trying to make them all like that because executives are like "Look how good batman did! Lets make Superman dark too!!!" Complete ********.

I agree. Superman, I don't recall, was ever seen in a dark manner to the point that the new movie is trying to make. Not sure how it will affect my perception. Other DC characters are far more complex and darker compared to Marvels. The problem with Marvel. The characters are bland.

What about Cap, Punisher, Wolverine, Magneto, Daredevil.. DC can't touch those

As far as dark gritty flawed heroes go Punisher and Wolverine are darker than Batman who doesn't kill. Logan would've just chopped that clowns head off years ago.

Not even remotely true and never has been. Batman has always been the exception. Learn nerd.

and Marvel's complex characters? Definitely not Captain America who is the "aw shucks" Opie Cunningham guy. The Hell's Kitchen group yes, but the Avengers are no better than the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Pure cheese.

Marvel tries to make up by using excessive amounts of over dramatization on magic and mutant powers

Give me Central City, Gotham, Arkum Asylum, Suicide Squad, Metropolis, and Star City all day long.

Tony Stark is an alcoholic egomaniac who - for a while - thought imprisoning other heroes was a great idea. Spider-Man - the cheeriest hero Marvel has - was partially responsible for the murder of his uncle. I mean, that's pretty damn dark.

I guess. To me their character development is boring. But I'm a DC guy, so we will prolly disagree.

I like DC, too, but to say their characters are darker and more complex is as wrong as wrong can be. That has never been the case.

I guess what I consider dark and complex is different than your take on it. I just don't feel the pain and infliction in Marvel's heroes. To me they lack personality. That's my opinion.

Cap and Superman are a better comparison personality wise.

DC does not have a bad guy as cool as Victor Von Doom.

Come on, way more people can relate to Peter Parker than anything that DC puts out. He has a crappy job, no money, a girl problem, raised by relatives, etc. I mean he is basically all of us at some point in our life except he is also Spiderman which comes with so much responsibility that it creates problems in every other facet of his life. That's a great character.

I typically prefer DC movies and TV shows, but the Marvel stuff on Netflix is top notch. However, I will say the superhero genre is mostly beyond played out these days, in all forms of media.

But when it comes to the comic book world, since I don't read super hero comics, the argument easily swings in favor of DC because of the Vertigo imprint. Marvel is practically a wasteland for me as far as comics go, not often you see any great adult comic books coming out of Marvel unless they involve an adult spin on superheroes.

Same can be said about Barry Allen before he became the Flash

Batman is awesome is because of how relatable he is. He is the hero any of us could become.

He didn't just wake up one morning and have powers, he used mind to overcome human weakness. But ontop of all this he is this fallen tragedy.

His parents were killed in front of him. This tragedy forged him. He is flawed, angry, human. He isn't perfect. He struggles. He's the moral right we all struggle with.

Batman has the best villains.Villains make the best storylines.Batman is the pinnacle for a comic artist and its cool how each spins him a different way.Sam Kieths batman looks very different from jim lees.I love the artwork in batman by far because any artist who drawls batman does his best.

There's plenty of gritty Marvel work out there, you just have to go looking for it. Somebody mentioned Thanos (a favorite of mine) -- you should check out the Thanos Quest series that follows how Thanos actually gets the infinity gems.

Not a lot rides on the films, for me. They're always gonna come with an asterisk for me because I know studio licensing and contractual handcuffs are always going to keep all the characters from being totally available. It really annoys me that the X-Men are stuck with Bryan Singer. Apocalypse looks AWFUL.
