watched Purdue last night...and it struck me how they really had to almost totally change their defense and offense since last year. Depending on Edey for their offense and defensive schemes for 3 years, this year they almost totally had to change and did well. I think it was a good coaching job.At one point last night their guard Smith(ended up with 15 assists} had an assist on all of their first 11 buckets......So really from a center dominated team to a point guard focused team....and after saying this they gave up that bunny on the out of bounds play to lose..

Painter is a damn good Coach even if their fans fail to recognize it.

I even have to give Smith a break. Played much better this season than I thought he would. Still loses the handle under pressure but overall he did good.

Painter is, IMO, excellent at almost everything. He strategizes well, think style of play, roster fit to play. He is good with tactics, think preparing games. He’s good with retention, player development, and so on.

His main weakness is in game. He sometimes just does not see changes in front of him. I guess you could say while he develops well and recruits well under the radar talent, he might not be able to attract national level top ranked talent? I don’t know, some Purdue fans, a minority I am sure, like many fan bases’, just can’t be pleased. At least they’re not as bad as IU fans.

Coincidently visited both campuses this week for admitted student day with my oldest idiot.
