He's the perfect college combo guard.

He can create off the bounce but doesn't have to have it in his hands. He's a great shooter but has the athleticism and handle to drive it to the rim and finish. He can catch and shoot. He moves without the ball instead of standing and waiting for it. He can guard both spots. He's not too big to be a point or too small to be a 2.

Not for himself from the perimeter, I agree. Hagans and Johnson can get to the rim and Hagans can create for others, but neither of them is getting their own look outside like Murray or Monk.

Folks won't want to hear it, but he's a bigger, stronger, quicker, more athletic Quade Green.

He'd be dynamic next to Hagans with our shooters and versatile forwards.

Johnson has a very advanced mid-range and slashing game. Definitely a guy that can get you a bucket. That said, Maxey is a complete scorer. I really want him for 2018.

A roster that has Immanuel Quickley starting the game on the bench makes me both sad and happy. People got salty because I suggested that Keldon Johnson might play the 4 for limited stretches; if we get Maxey you can bank on that happening from time to time. That’s too much guard talent to have languishing on the bench because of position rigidity.

This is a good video showing his skills set. I hate to lose Green but I won’t lose any sleep if we can get this kid!

This. Uses his body extremely well through contact. Shoots it pretty well, and is an above average athlete. I know people on this board love leadership and I do think Quade would provide some of that, but if I had to choose personally between Quade and Maxey, it wouldn't necessarily be that close. Give me Maxey.

this is our problem we always think the grass is greener on the other side. I like the kid but a couple of highlight reels won't persuade me to boot guys like green out the door. There's no guarantee he reclassifies or if he even chooses ky. Would he help ? Sure but we haven't seen herro, baker, or quickly. Any of those guys can make a big impact. I'm for maxey just not 2018.

Not blown away by his videos. Keep Quade and add this guy the following year.
I’d rather see Maxey in the 19 class too but if Cal talked with Quade and told him he really wants him back, Quade will be the starting PG, Maxey or not.

I was thinking more of a Jamal Murray.

Yup, but more natural point skills and maybe better able to handle contact.

Possibly a quicker release as well.

It's too funny that folks have hammered for years "can't have too many shooters" until now and it's sudden a vexing amount of shooters. We're talking a more dynamic player that can also fill it up and now many really want some kind of affirmative action program in place for minutes for less talented players rather than winning.

See, I don't see where people are getting this idea that it's one or the other. They won't play the same position in college. Quade will be the 1 next season, Maxey will be the 2. Assuming Washington, Gabriel, and Vando return:

PG: Green (1), Hagans (2), Quickley (3)
SG: Maxey (1), Quickley (2), Herro (3), Baker (4)
SF: Johnson (1), Vanderbilt (2), Maxey (3)
PF: Washington (1), Gabriel (2), Montgomery (3)
C: Vanderbilt (1), Montgomery (2), Richards (3)

Quade won’t start at pt if Hagans reclasses

When I was a kid we drove through Kansas all the way home to Lexington. What I realized on the trip was that the grass was actually greener here!!!! Come on down and let Cal sort it out.

He at least will at the beginning because of experience, but by the end of the season, I suspect Hagans will be far, far too good to not start. Not that it matters. Devin Booker came off the bench, Virginia's best player came off the bench this past season. He'll likely be a nightmare for any point guard to handle, he'll especially be a nightmare for a 2nd string point guard, or a gassed first string point guard to deal with.

Exactly. Cal will start his leader and the guy with the most experience . Really all this talk of who starts and who doesn't is sorta silly as Green, Hagans ,herro and Quick will all play about equal minutes. Herro will be playing some at SF but regardless they will all play a ton. The guard who might not see a ton of minutes is Baker. Also people are selling Green short . He is alot like the Joel Berry . Not a big time NBA prospect but can be an elite college player none the less. If we had lost green , even if Maxey had come aboard , I would of thought less of our chances as you need some experience . You don't need 4 seniors but having Green , Richards , Baker , JV and either PJ or WG makes a huge difference and makes us the favorite hands down.

Hagans has been working towards reclassing since December.

I assume Green returning means Maxey will be committing elsewhere.

He wouldn’t have come back if that was the case.

Nah. It's like the situation Bolden found himself in at dook. He wants to play in the NBA, and the mandated redshirt year after a transfer is a pretty big deterrent.

I doubt Green starts next year. But coming off the bench at a blue blood is still better than sitting out a year.

The 2018 team has already happened, but I get ya.

Or just commit and come in fall 2019 with another loaded class.

Not sure how a slow and too short Green put up similar numbers to Jalen Brunson as a frosh.

There is a reason his career won’t follow a similar path: unless he gets injured or is from KY players like him don’t stick around to see a senior year at UK.

Agree that he could be that type of player, but him seeing a senior night at UK is very unlikely.

So. Do you think he will see a senior year if he goes to another school?
