Is it legal to contact middle schools and ask if them if they any kids 6'9 or taller? I think I have a business idea. Of course with their parents signed permission.

This all reminds me of when Clark Francis started scouting 4th graders.

And so I Googled "Clark Frances 4th graders" and I came across this.

Apparently these are old Hoop Scoops Francis is selling, and some of the titles of the articles are pretty interesting.

"Vote Against the Shot Clock," March 1985
"Cedric Henderson's Recruitment," June 1985
"J.R. Reid Emerges," July 1985
"Mourning, Kemp, Owens Highlight Best Class in Years," June 1987
"Top 700 Players in the Class of 1995,"

The kid that is playing at the school in La Porte, IN is legit. Has a very quick first step along the baseline and can get up and down the court. He is pushing 260 easy and is skilled in the post.

Humphries.

I personally think the age of the big man has passed, and it's useless to look for the next great one. Yeah, you probably will have another freakish talent like Shaq some day, but those are too few and too far between to worry much about it. And I think the nature of the game has changed so that it's much more difficult for any player to stand out just on height. There are too many spectacular athletes in the 6'9"-6'10" range who can easily hang with guys a few inches taller.

If I had to pick one from that current HS list, it would be Zach Brown, the 2017 player from Miami. He's legitimately huge, well-coordinated, and not totally lacking athletic ability. He'll never be Shaq, but he could be peak-level Andrew Bynum, hopefully minus the injury/attitude issues.
