I had no idea until I went to the NCHSAA webpage that they had "Adjusted Maxpreps Rankings"..They are completely different than Maxpreps in some cases..NO love for the SMC..Murphy 13th.
Robbinsville 19th..
Thomas Jefferson 4th?
My Airy 1st
Tarboro 2nd.
Lol..what sauce are they drinking?
Or have I misread this in some way?

Agreed we need to win out and that rest will be welcomed. I just hope we don’t get too rusty. Hate to have another 1st round upset on what’s becoming a very good year for us.

Ive seen a little bit of Thomas Jefferson and they are pretty close to a one man show offensively. A lesser version of the 2017 Cherokee team would be the best description I could give. Im not saying they arent a good team because they are, but they arent better than Murphy or Mitchell and Robbinsville would beat them to I think. Knights pass defense would struggle some with there spread pass game so it might be close but Knights physicality would win out in the end imo.

Oh and Maxpreps adjusted rankings are even worse than the regular ones. Riverside 3rd in 1A? Granville Central and Princeton top 10? Lol

Top 4 teams get a bye. Since murphy, mitchell, and tja are 1st place teams....there wont be a 4th conference winner in small 1a west unless elkin wins the 1a side of mvac. Therefore robbinsville will be 4th best team and get a bye. Because they will be highest maxpreps ranked team after those 3 winners in the small 1a west.

Hmm...oh well rather go thru Murphy and try to win another title than have them play up and win one. It’d be called a weak championship if we’d win one and Murphy played up. No problem playing down if we are good enough to win a 1A title it’d be sweeter to beat a rival on the way. I am all for a rematch no reason to get mad about Murphy playing down if we are the best we have to beat the best, right now it’s Murphy.

nope just that those particular teams are ranked way too high. Tarboro, Holmes are legit top 3 teams, Pamlico is a legit top 8 team. I dont think anyone else in the east is top 10 team right now. Riverside and Northampton are probably top 15.

They should be, high school football is all about the number of students you get to pick your team from. Every now and then a school with lower numbers will have a group of players come through that will upset the norm but not very often.

You sure can, Andrews will be near the bottom of the SMC until they combine with murphy, then murphy will have to either put a lot of students in the alternative school or play in the classification they should have been in for a long time. Watch gentry retire as soon as he has to play in the classification murphy is supposed to be in.

Rville20...Shut up. Your making a fool out of yourself.Forget about the numbers and just play the game. Robbinsville will be fine.Some years we are good enough,some years we ain't. This year,we are a top 2 or 3 team in the state in small 1A. Be happy.

Robbinsville had 4 fumbles and 2 costly ones. If Robbinsville wins the turnover battle we will be in the game at the end. Remember Robbinsville/Murphy game was the first game with defensive changes. Defense is better now because of it. I like our chances in Cherokee County, if that's were the games is played.

some of those robbinsville mistakes were because your qb had somebody up in his face forcing him into early and bad throws, thats called a good pass rush. And mistakes or not Murphy outgained ya'll by 200 yards. I like Murphys chances in a rematch at Bob Hendrix Stadium.

Talk to someone today that said that Winston Salem Prep, Bear Grass Charter, Rosewood and Bishop McGuiness would all make the playoffs in small 1A this year. They did not make the playoffs last year. Could possibly keep bubble teams in Big 1AA and possibly bump some small 1A teams last year up into big 1AA.. Comments?

Mitchell would be the first causality with an enrollment around 500 this year according to those close to the program. Based on last years numbers Rosewood, Community School of Davidson, Mtn Island Charter and Union Academy would be next in line to move up to 1AA. If Murphy is at 478 it would take several small enrollment schools making the playoffs this year that didnt last year and several of the aforementioned schools enrollments falling for Murphy not to be 1A this year.

What does it matter in 14 and 15 we beat Murphy 4 games in a row and no one mentioned numbers. There’s no bigger Black Knight fan than I am but enough already!!!! If we’re good enough we’ll win. Sure it helps to dress 40 vs 25 but let it go guys. Be proud of what we got and what we’ve achieved already. We were picked to finish 4 or 5th at best. I personally want to play Murphy and the better team , if we win it means that much more. Hell let’s schedule nantahala and order rings if we beat em. Just play.

Maxpreps hardly determines who makes the playoffs, its almost entirely based on conference finish now since they adjusted the rules last winter. With the seeding process in place now if you dont finish top 5 in your conference you wont get in, just not enough spots otherwise. Maxpreps rankings will determine some of the wild cards and thats about it. Other than breaking ties in seeded teams with same record and ranking the wild card teams.

What are new rules made in winter? last year it was 1 seeds then everyone else seeded by adjusted maxpreps. Is there a link to new rules?
