Considering Huss was hired specifically as a coach in waiting and Coon stayed committed, I’m guessing he’ll stay with his commitment.
Correct. The planning was set in place at the end of last season. All of Creighton recruits and players were well aware.

Fair. You never know who has eligibility or what year they technically are anymore... maybe they give him a hardship waiver because of his mom's illness and passing, they have given extra years for stuff way way more ridiculous.

Ben jacobsen also attended this game...he played for mac.
I watched most of this game..glad cu won
..mainly due to dix.
I hope he goes out on top after his rough year.
Ben Jacobson (UNI and now USU coach) played for Rich Glas at North Dakota. He was an assistant under McDermott at North Dakota State and followed Mac to UNI when he got the job in 2001.

UNI had an outstanding player also named Ben Jacobson in the Coach Mac era who helped beat Iowa a couple of times in the UNI-Dome in 2003 and 2005.

Both great Panthers, but different guys.

If only Jacobson played better in the 2004 tourney vs Georgia Tech. They still almost had them. Tech ended up playing in the finals that year.

Mac had three consecutive 5-point losses in the first round at UNI:

2004: Georgia Tech 65, UNI 60
2005: Wisconsin 57, UNI 52
2006: Georgetown 54, UNI 49

Then Coach Jake had a 5 point loss in UNI's next NCAA tournament game against Purdue, 61-56 in 2009.

Finally got off that 5 point loss cycle with the sweet-sixteen run the next year.

Weird how McDermott at Iowa State never worked out. He's a good coach and recruiter.
Was a great decision to leave for Creighton. Kind of like Alford was on the hot seat and had under achieved there. At time when he left may have been considered a step down just a notch but was to a school who really values b-ball. Both Creighton and New Mexico. But then Creighton with conference realignment came out smelling like roses joining the Big East.

the real loser in coach Mac taking Creighton job was UNI. Doug was all set to go play there for coach Jacobson instead of isu with his dad.

I enjoyed those UNI teams more than the other years. John Little, Chris Foster, Erik Crawford, David Gruber (the first year) then later Eric Coleman & McKowen.
