Is there a chance Crayton will be needing a new coach soon if their guy gives it one more shot at a bigger name school?

He has it made at Creighton. He would be a fool to go any where else.

The Big East is big time and Creighton isn't in the Smoe Vally anymore.

I highly doubt it. Not this year at least. Even if Patton and Foster were to declare, I still don't see it.

The old Big East was big time. The new Big East is not BIG time like other conferences with FB. Cant see how he would be wanted by a BIG time school given his failure at ISU and not being able to get Creighton to the 2nd weekend of the tourney. I think the win last night gets them into the NCAAs now ever without a win vs Nova. Will still be a very low seed and one/done.

That's funny you state that because Steve Lavin said something really really strange Thursday to Coach McDerrmott after the game. It's not word for word but Lavin said to Coach M " I heard a rumor" then there was a long pause & McDerrmott looked like "I can't believe your doing this". Then Lavin said a "a rumor that something is in the works...that Bruce Rasmussen is working real hard" longer pause, then Lavin changed tone and said "rumor that your trying to get a $1 beer night for the BIg East Tourny". All started to laugh but last part by Lavin seemed like he was changing the subject to keep things cool.

Coach McDerrmott needs to realize Creighton isn't a mid-major anymore. Jays play in a top conference. (Easily top 3 IMO). Fan support is there. Name recognition is growing. Jays always on the Map and are basically in the top 25 every year. No reason to leave

Big East will get 7 teams in this year. That's 70% of the conference. Pretty dam good. Only ACC & maybe BIG will get more in. That's a top conference by my book.

What are you talking about they were in no matter what even with a loss last night with a RPI of 25-28.o_O

Yes the old Big East was big time but so is the new Big East, adding Butler, Marquette, Xavier and Creighton made the conference just as tough dispite losing Syracuse and Va Tech to the ACC.

They'll have 7 teams more likely in the tournament.

The argument about if the Big East was a big time conference ended last year when Nova won the championship. If you think it isnt, then you just have an axe to grind.

That or they don't follow college basketball. The same cat also suggested that Creighton needed that win last night, over Xavier, to get in the tournament and that they will be a low seed. They will be a 6 or 7 seed depending on the outcome of the game against Villanova today.

And remember that a few weeks ago Creighton was going to be lucky just win another game.

Think maybe some Power 5 schools have McDermott in mind as a Plan B, just in case Tim Miles turns them down?
When it comes to McDermott, it is spelled MiLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLes or something close to that.

Jays were a bit overmatched today, which just goes to show what an easy path they had to the finals. If they had run up against a juggernaut like Penn State in the bunny round, they surely never would have sniffed the weekend.

You had me going for a bit. Laughing

If a school is interested in persuading Gregg Marshall to leave Wichita State, tonight might be a good time to call his agent. Crappiness of the Valley landed him as a #10 seed.
