He better think he can win the job. No use coming if you don't plan to play. Good to see him for the first time.

I think he can win the job too. He didn't come clear across the country to sit behind someone who may not be his equal.
Here we go again. Drew Barker was one of the highest rated high school quarterbacks in his class. Steve Spurrier wanted him in the worst way. Yet, because he didn't look like Joe Namath his first couple games, our learned fan base blows him off as a failure. Once again, the backup quarterback is everyone's favorite. Insanity, pure insanity.

Actually, Kentucky fans have been forced to watch a crap load of terrible starting QB play. Especially since Woodson left.

Loving the backup is the result of this reality. It's born from the thought that the backup couldn't possibly be more terrible than the pitiful performance we are forced to witness over and over and over again.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. PT is earned on the practice field , not,in the high school position ratings. Drew was an elite 11 QB, and Johnson II or ( j deuce ) is hungry and has a proven body of work in the juco circuit A real nice TD to int ratio against decent players Best to see who earns their spot in the spring.

Now that we have a quality OC and QB coach anything can happen. Quite frankly there is nowhere to go but up after the clown we had last year for replaced.

I agree....Also, Johnson could not win his job back after injury at Grambling St. But he is going to come in here next year and light it up, interesting.

Hartline was pretty darn good and everyone wanted the backup and I believe that was Morgan Newton. Bonner was pretty good, everyone wanted lorenzen. Lorenzen was pretty darn good, a lot wanted Boyd. When towels was the backup everyone wanted him until he was the starter and then they wanted Barker. They've had barker for 2 games and now people want someone they have never even seen.

That's reality.

Is that impossible to conceive? Could he improve?

I love Barker's potential, but he has yet to demonstrate that Johnson has to beat a good college QB.

It's not that fans want the back up as much as we want a winner. If barker comes out throwing for 3000 yards and we go bowling I promise you nobody will be clamoring for a back up.
