I agree it’s a necessity with the current playing field, but it also demonstrates how disconnected D1 sports have become from the college experience.
Basically, schools have become the sponsors of minor league, professional sports and athletes. Makes me wonder whether the whole endeavor is worth supporting.
Sure, watching sports generally remains fun, but it’s becoming harder to feel any attachment to the teams and players.
