Mertz to Florida

We got the better QB. Even if it is only for one year.
We joked about it, but there must be some truth to the Auburn reports that McCall has academic/areas he majors in problems preventing him from transferring to a Power 5 school
I've watched pretty much every game Mertz has played (my wife is from Wisconsin, so started following them in 1990). He has some talent but just so incredibly inconsistent. Can look good in one series then can't throw a rock into the ocean from the shore the next. He can move so was a better option at times to Spence P (Iowa's QB who is hurt). Both those guys kind of mirrored each other over the last few years TBH.

Poor ole Napier. Had to put up with overrated Richardson last season now will have to deal with Mertz. Do they still have their 2023 5 star QB recruit?
I think on one board the Auburn fans acted like Leary was another transfer qb with academic issues like McCall and that's why he didn't go there. Like we got him only because of an easy major he could get at UK and they wouldn't do that.
I like the fact you got the guy you did over Mertz. I've been down on Mertz if you've been reading my posts on this board about him-- having seen him play tons during his college career.
I do not understand Florida's decline. Miami, Florida, and FSU used to rule this sport and they have fallen off a cliff (although FSU seems to moving in the right direction).
Mertz would've been a good addition but I am much happier with Leary.
Mertz would've been another project ala Levis. That would mean a lot of some wow moments sandwiched in a ton of frustration.
Instead we got a proven decision maker who will get the ball to our talented pass catchers on time and in space. Alot to be excited for next season.

Mertz would have been more of a project than Levis...trust me when I say this.
I hate to down a kid who I’ve never seen film of but if he’s as bad as you act I sure am thankful for Florida getting him, any KY win against FL is a good win. Need to start moving the needle back a little in our direction. Need to rise above these schools while they’re slightly down.
Now we just gotta root for Mertz to scuffle for a few seasons and get Napier fired. Nothing has benefitted us more than Florida hitting the reset button over and over.
