It's happened twice before. Akron, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois.....I hate these MAC games. No upside for NU.
It's the 40th anniversary of the last loss of the streak. My then fiancee/now wife were at the game.
What made you choose one over the other? :>)
There are never gimmes on a NU schedule. Unfortunately, that's not because the strength of schedule is always high.
SIU is ranked 17th in FCS and picked to finish 4th in the MVC
In 2021 SIU finished 3rd in the MVC (8-5/5-3 in MVC) and lost to North Dakota St in the FCS Playoffs

The only upside is the program often goes on to win championships after such embarrassing losses.

well then who are they going to beat? Duke, SIU, Miami Oh., Illinois. That's Four. How about Minny, Purdue. Io-a and Maryland?
I certainly hope not, although it is possible to be significantly better on the field and less successful in terms of wins.
