Micah Parsons says Cowboys not signing him to extension already will 'cost them more' eventually

He’s absolutely right. Parsons, Watt, Hendrickson are the three big names to be resigned. As each get signed, the price will go up for the others. You don’t want to be the last team negotiating with one of these guys as your leverage will be less than it is now.

That’s how it works. We’ve seen it a dozen times. Jerry thinks he’s smarter than any other owner.
What I don’t understand is, he says he n Jerry had an agreement but Jerry never called his agent. Why didn’t the agent reach out to Jerry and say let’s get this done

Maybe because Jerry’s a bit past it and not the Cowboys exec negotiating these deals?

Jerry likes the publicity. The XM guys talked about this last week. To Jerry, any publicity is good publicity. It makes the Cowboys look relevant. They did the same thing with Dak and CeeDee and it bit them because they waited longer, drug it out in the media and they paid them more in the end. Then CeeDee took a month or more into the season to get back up to speed.

I haven’t read the article but either 1) the agent has already contacted Jones or 2) he hasn’t. If 2, then Parsons will end up getting more money anyway.

Exactly. As a long suffering Cowboys’ fan the Dumb and Dumber, Stephen and Jerry Jones, clown show is beyond description. Jerry should have been fined or suspended when he tried to circumvent the rule that prohibits owners or GMs to try to negotiate deals directly with players represented by agents. He then compounds the problem by saying he didn’t know who Parsons’ agent is despite the fact that he is one of the better and most effective agents. The clown does this and this results in Parsons who initially said he didn’t need to be paid top dollar saying there won’t be any deal without his agent’s involvement and that the delay in negotiating a deal will only make the price go up. His next “brilliant” negotiating strategy will be to have his bootlickers in the media circulate rumors that the player is a clubhouse problem or a trade candidate thinking that will make the player sign for less and ultimately over pay as in the case with Prescott, Lamb and others. But as you say, Jerry is the smartest guy in the room and if you don’t believe it, just ask him.

I loved the “Jones said he didn’t know who Parsons’ agent was.”

Whew doggy Micah just torched the cowboys front office and demands a trade. Reading that letter he just put out publicly that doesn't look like a negotiating ploy to me, that is burning some bridges and he sounds completely done in Dallas.

I think Micah is over rated. Either that or under coached/under utilized. When they play better teams he seems to disappear.

The negotiations go through Stephen Jones, Jerry's son. Everything I've seen has shown Micah to be reaching out far before this year and increased salary negotiations. Only agents negotiate deals regarding players. Micah reached out, and now he appears done. No Cowboys fan here, but this has been Micah's favorite team since he was a child.

No organization or company should hire, retain or promote any individual who publicly expresses dissatisfaction with their employer / organization.

Could they trade him to say The Chargers only to have them turn around and trade him to say the Eagles? Is that verboten, or written into the trade that he can't wind up in certain cities?
